I'm mainly after push notification when a person is detected so I can easily tell if it is someone unknown, and easily playback that notification clip. Is that feasible? Last time I tried, it was a no go.

It’s good if you take time to learn it.
It’s still not what some want - 100% control over every single camera setting and feature all on one screen It never will be.

I only have 5 cameras installed connected to my Dahua NVR which has 8 ports. On the app, is there a way of only showing the 5 cameras as currently it scans for CAM 6,7,8 every time.

Consider trying the Amcrest View Pro app...works with Dahua, as Amcrest is OEM'd by Dahua.
