Putin is a politician and an ex-KGB guy. Lying is natural to these guys. He is going to say whatever he thinks will get his desired outcome. But it is good to have the dialogue. One can at least hear the words and make your own decision.

Exactly this.
Russia doesn't get to negotiate who joins NATO.
Some compare this to Cuba in the 1960;s. It's entirely different. If the US or NATO moves nukes into the new NATO countries then Russia has a complaint as if nearer they reduce reaction times. But you cannot simply say to free countries you can't join a military alliance, espeically a defensive one.
This was never about NATO, this was about restoring the old Soviet Union which Putin misses, 1 country at a time.

Most of what Putin said is verifiable with a quick search online, archived articles dating back to late 90s and early 2000s. Especially the part of Nato expansion into Ukraine was a absolute red line by even the Putin staunchest western propped critics in Russia political spectrum.
After 9/11, Putin was the first world leader to call Bush and had Russian air bases offered for immediate US deployment for Afghanistan. The tone of Russia changed when Bush gave the go ahead for Nato expansion without Russia sometime just after 2002 to 2004 and the relationship crashed in 2008 when Bush went ahead with the expansion of Ukraine and Georgia. Resulting in a brief Russia-Georgia war in 2008.
Russia could have retaliated in kind in Afghanistan, Iraq just like how the CIA did but Putin didn't.
He was forced to go east and become second fiddle to Xi. They still can retaliate for the Nord Stream pipe line bombing,
The real reason most articles mention why the US didn't allow russia into Nato was due to the MIC. Remember russia has its own weapons which would have been a huge loss in deals.

Even before the current Ukraine Russia conflict started. US said it would sanction any country in the world if it buys Russian arms. This made Egypt, Indonesia and few more countries to back out of buying Su35/Su30 fighter planes deals worth over 20 billion.
UAE and Saudi Arabia wanted the S400 but threat of sanctions killed the deal.
Its no secret that US doesn't want Russia to sell its Oil and Gas. It also no secret that US oil companies where refused access to Russian oil market by Putin.
We are still in Syria for the sole purpose of stealing their Oil. Trump himself said this.
Its only a matter of time when China and India will have equal say in world matter. Once that happens G7, Nato will dissolve mostly due to the de- dollarization of the global economy.
