In the latest attempt to obtain the desired results, Maine implements Ranked-choice voting.

Ranked-choice voting, sometimes called "instant run-off voting," allows voters to choose their candidates in order of preference, by marking candidates as their first, second, third, and subsequent choices. The votes are tabulated in rounds, with the lowest-ranked candidates eliminated in each round until there are only two candidates left. The one who is determined to have received the majority of the votes (more than 50%) in the final round is declared the winner. It is different from our previous method of voting, in which voters choose only one candidate for each office and the winner is determined by plurality (whoever gets the most votes).

It was a ballot measure that was voted in by the Maine electorate. The state's republican party has challenged it by collecting signatures to do something of a recall election for it. Last i had read the courts shot that down after several signatures were disqualified as being invalid putting them below the needed threshold. IDK if there has been any update, but even if they got the needed signatures I doubt the court would make the changes for this election given how close we are.

RANK-CHOICE VOTING???

I don't know, something just sounds fishy with this voting scheme, can't say yet my opinion, still searching...I understand the 34% concept, and not losing a vote since your second and third choices would count for the one who is ahead but my concern is how does all of this early voting and mail-in ballots effect this and will this open up for many more parties to come into play that are really from one of the major Parties with the hidden agenda of when their parties candidate loses their vote will go for the Major party. Isn't this kind of like voting twice?
