US Elections (& Politics) :)

You really should HATE your Congress-Critters EVEN MORE!!

Congress gives themselves a 39% pay raise

Congress has sparked outrage by approving a 39% pay raise for its members. This decision, coming at a time when many Americans face financial struggles, has left voters questioning the priorities of their elected officials and the ethics behind such a move.

The raise was buried in a 1,547-page spending bill designed to prevent a government shutdown. This last-minute “continuing resolution” (CR) left little room for debate or public scrutiny. By removing a long-standing provision blocking automatic pay increases, Congress effectively ensured their own pay hike for the first time in over a decade.

Financially, the raise increases annual salaries from $174,000 to $180,600---an additional $6,600. For perspective, this is more than double the 2023 median U.S. household income of $80,610. Critics argue this disparity underscores Congress’s detachment from everyday Americans, fueling resentment and skepticism about their priorities.

Opposition has been fierce. Representative Jared Golden of Maine condemned the move, stating, “If any of my colleagues can’t afford to live on this income, they should find another line of work.” Many Americans share this sentiment, calling the raise an affront to workers who continue to face stagnant wages and rising costs.

The timing has only deepened the backlash. At a moment when families are cutting back during economic uncertainty, lawmakers’ decision to enrich themselves feels tone-deaf and self-serving. Critics have labeled the raise a “Christmas tree” provision---loaded with perks for legislators while their constituents struggle to make ends meet.

This controversy exposes a glaring lack of transparency in how Congress operates. By hiding such a contentious raise in a dense spending bill, lawmakers sidestepped accountability and left voters feeling betrayed. The question remains: will this spark meaningful reforms, or will Congress continue to prioritize itself over the public it serves?

Dah Hog is back. Yes, that squeaky, dumbshit that threatened to take every ones guns away. Yes, the same one that started up a pillow company, that miserably flopped a couple of months later. That Hog.:lol:

Republicans scrap spending bill, under pressure from Trump and Musk

Unless Congress acts, a government shutdown deadline looms just past midnight Saturday.

Why is Ontario, Canaduh running commercials constantly on Fox News about the beneficial trading relationship they have with the US? Did Trump scare the Canuks?

Fani Willis Is Officially Kicked Off Trump's Case
The Georgia Court of Appeals has officially disqualified Fulton County DA Fani Willis from prosecuting President-elect Donald Trump and his remaining co-defendants in the crumbling 2020 election interference case.

According to the 31-page decision handed down Thursday, the state's appeals court ruled that there was, in fact, a conflict of interest that arose when Willis hired special prosecutor Nathan Wade and proceeded to have an undisclosed affair with him during the prosecutorial process.

I’ve heard running them during games and such as well. I’d guess Fox has a pretty cheap ad buy rate.

And Ontario premier (Doug Ford), is well aware that any fallout from Trudeau’s stupidity would mostly impact his province. He’s signaling that the economies are heavily intertwined and that disruptions will have some big unintended consequences.

Long but Very Good Read

The effect of the permission structure machine is to instill and maintain obedience to voices coming from outside yourself, regardless of the obvious gaps in logic and functioning that they create.

Obamacare was followed by the Iran deal, which was followed by Russiagate, which was followed by COVID. Messaging around the pandemic was the fourth and most far-reaching permission structure game

resulting in the revocation of the most basic social rights—like the right to go outside your own home, or visit a dying parent or child in the hospital. COVID also proved to be an excuse for the largest wealth transfer in American history

COVID proved to be a means for remaking the American electoral system

protected by new election laws, the party’s control over major information platforms, the FBI, and the White House, and a government-led campaign of lawfare against Trump. It was hard to see how the party could lose for at least another generation, if ever again.

It's a long read but worth it.:headbang:

This is what gets me more than anything about her and several other women very much like her and who similarly have various degrees of control and power because of their position......she does NOT feel like she has done anything out of line and refuses to acknowlege such! And how dare you question her motives or ethics!

I think Ramaswamy could be a great house speaker. He seems to be able to convince people to think his way and they don't feel tricked or beat up afterward. He has a way of quietly hammering people with the truth.

The new bill is down to 115 pages. I saw this on another forum.

"I scanned through the bill. Most of it is extension of farm programs and for disaster relief funding. There is still the funding for the Frances Key Scott Bridge, but the rest seems to all be simply extending the dates of funding for government agencies.

This is way better than the 1500 pork-filled monster they tried to slip through yesterday.

Unless someone better at deciphering legalese government-speak finds a poison pill, I’m fine with it.

I think we can declare this a “Win”."
