GE Appliances to invest over $3 billion in US manufacturing push
Aug 13 (Reuters) - Haier-owned GE Appliances said on Wednesday it plans to invest more than $3 billion over five years in its U.S. operations and workforce following the Trump administration's tariff policies aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing.

Global firms have been increasing their investments and presence in the United States after President Donald Trump pushed companies across sectors, including Apple and Ford to produce goods within the country and generate jobs.

The GE Appliances investment will create 1,000 jobs in five states and is aimed at expanding the company's air conditioning and water heating portfolio, increasing production output and modernizing its 11 U.S. manufacturing plants with new automation and capital equipment, the home appliances maker said. Earlier this year, peer Carrier Global also said it planned to invest $1 billion over five years in the U.S.

By the time the plan is complete, Louisville, Kentucky-headquartered GE Appliances said it will have invested $6.5 billion across its U.S. manufacturing plants and distribution network since it was acquired by Chinese consumer electronics major Haier from General Electric.

2 or 3 month to resolve tariff disputes? But probably 2 years to get infrastructure in place to become more self reliant. So many problems due to poor leadership the last 20 years plus pressure by shareholders for companies to maximize profit equals the dependent mess we are in. I hope there are some shovel ready projects around to resolve the manufacturing issue. Maybe use some or all of the collected tariffs to help industry along if they aren't going to pay off the debt. $100B of collected tariffs to boost rare earth minerals, pharmaceuticals, steel/aluminum, food, etc. production.

2-3 months before you feel it in your checkbook in a way that can't be ignored. Those costs WILL be passed along

I hope these announcements by companies promising to invest in US manufacturing dont hurt my personal investment pledge of $125 Billion. I mean Mrs bigredfish will be PISSED if she finds out we sold her shoe collection and didn't get any ROI
