I can't say how valid this is but listening to a podcast I was hearing that natural gas is used to make the synthetic fertilizer that many farmers use to fertilize their crops. Due to the spike in natural gas costs many farmers may not be able to afford this (is this why Bill Gates is buying up land)? Or maybe even making the fertilizer will be cost prohibitive. IF this is true we could be in deep doodoo with our food supply.
