So I have been it the testing and planning stage since I set up blue Iris. I only have one camera hooked up and recording all day and my problem is that the recordings only stick around for about four days and everything automatically erases. I have the camera set to record to disc and it is running at 30fps(yes I know, set it to 15fps). I know that with it recording one camera even at 30fps, it should record way longer than about four days On a 6tb purple drive. I'm not quite sure what I did or am doing wrong. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Screen shots
1) Status (three bar button) clip storage
2) options (gear button) the clips and archiving tab, the folders new, stored, alert, aux1 settings ( 4 total screen shots)
3) each camera the record record tab.

4) what version of BI are you using ?

You are right, you should be getting 50+ days for a single camera on a disk of that size. Potentially a lot more if the bit rate is low. The trouble is, there are a LOT of settings to screw up or neglect along the way.

You'll probably notice the problem in the process of gathering the screenshots.

Sorry, I don't have access to the computer right now. I'm getting all of this info from my phone.

I'm thinking I should uncheck limit clip age and that might fix the issue, am I right to guess that?

you only have 60 gb allocated to storage. 40 NEW + 20 STORED. This is not very much space, may be a day ?

What are your disk drives and there size ?

Assuming the C drive is 6 TB.

1) Uncheck limit age on new and stored, manage storage by size
2) Set stored to 0, no need to use stored if it is on the same drive as new
3) set new to delete
4) set new size to 3000 GB for a start about 3 TB
5) if recording continuous. Check combine cut each video, set time to 1 hour, I do not use cut video when triggered, either to many small files or very large a files.

5) get the remaining screen shots.

I would put the windows OS and BI on an SSD and use the 6 TB drive for video storage. The way it is set up everything is going to C drive.

I have a 250gb 2.5" drive that the OS and Blue Iris are on and a 6TB Western Digital Purple drive for the recordings. This should be the last screen shot you are asking for. When I set up the OS and installed blue Iris on the 2.5" I didn't have the purple drive installed so I think maybe when I installed the purple drive a setting never got changed for the recordings, I'm not sure.Screenshot_20191117-184005.png

C: looks like your small drive and if I'm not mistaken everything is being saved there.

the new folder needs to the on the purple drive. Not on the C drive
C:\BlueIris\New

Assuming the purple is E:

It needs to be, create the folders...
E:\BlueIris\New

make the other changes in my post
1) Uncheck limit age on new and stored, manage storage by size
2) Set stored to 0, no need to use stored if it is on the same drive as new
3) set new to delete
4) set new size to 3000 GB for a start about 3 TB
5) if recording continuous. Check combine cut each video, set time to 1 hour, I do not use cut video when triggered, either to many small files or very large a files.

DO NOT CHANGE THE DATABASE LOCATION

Yup, what SouthernYankee said. If you don't have an optical drive (DVD/BluRay) your 6TB might be D instead of E.

An empty 6TB should have 5587GB usable space, so you could set the new size to 5307 (leaving 5% free).

Uncheck 'limit clip age' on alerts as well.

Ok. I found out the E drive was not set up after it was installed. I created a new folder for it and am using it for new. New size is set to 5300 and limit clip age is unchecked. Storage is now 0. Checked combine cut video and set to one hour.Screenshot_20191118-080022.png
