Is there any hikvision or other software that allows you to view the event times and recordings direct from the nas (NFS or SMB share?)

I like the webUI but it's slow because it is pulling video from the NAS to the camera then sending back to my PC.

Why not just have some windows client that can directly present the files from a shared folder? I've tried ivms4200 for the PC and Hikvision local Playback but neither do what I want.

They are stored as MP4 - VLC will play them ...

However the filing system is a bot odd with all sorts of Data Directories stored... I will look and see if anything makes any sense in terms of date/time -

Will VLC Play the raw files?
Yes it does but I was hoping there was a neater way.

I had a look at the hikvision docs and there's plenty of info about interfacing with their APIs on the camera but nothing to say how the video is indexed. I guess they want you to buy their NVRs!

Thats your only option, that or use a real NVR, this is just one of the many issues with NAS storage..
