They're $129 regularly but Andy ups the price on the listing when there is no available stock. I ordered one about 2 weeks ago while they were still listed as "in stock" but Dahua is on back order for several models, including this one, due a security/backdoor issue.

Got mine today from Andy. It was the PAL 2.8mm model and it had an older firmware from the middle of last year. I immediately upgraded the firmware to the NTSC firmware (on Dahua's website) without any issues. It uses the same firmware as the Starlight turret model (5231)

Are you happy with your 2.8mm?

Yes, it's working well as my doorbell camera. Painted the cover to match and mounted about face high near my front door to catch faces approaching my door.View attachment 17226
Good job, this tiny camera is very nice small and useful~ 2.8mm lens is best for using.

That looks very nice! I may have to paint the cover of the one I am getting also.

I'm looking at this for my front door also and was wondering which focal length to choose.
Why would 2.8 mm be best in this situation (vs. the 3.6 mm or 6 mm offering).

Since the purpose of this camera for me would be good facial ID when someone is basically standing near the front door wouldn't any focal length work well?
Mine would be mounted higher and I'd want to maximize the clarity of view from face height (6 ft or so?) down to the ground, (package watch) a few feet from the camera but I don't need \ want to watch the rest of the front yard.

Which focal length would be most appropriate for this?

Depends on how high you are mounting it.... 2.8mm is ideal for close ups to have a wider angle.

Well... this is a timely question since I just received the 2nd one of these from Andy this week because I wanted a spare on hand. When I received the first one, I was replacing a 2.8mm Hikvision. I immediately noticed that the Dahua was slightly less wide angle despite both claiming to be 2.8mm but wrote it off as being different brands. The first one also had an annoying clicking sound that was always present in the audio stream. Today I hooked up the new one (again which is identical and also labeled as 2.8mm). The new one has no audio clicking and is noticeable wider angle than the first one and is now more in line with the angles that my original Hikvision had. I'm convinced now that this first wedge I received from Andy is actually a 3.6mm lens and was mislabeled at the factory as 2.8mm

Here's a comparison of the two cameras mounted in same location near my door (as pictured above in this thread). I prefer the 2nd one (2.8mm) so I can see more of the ground while still pointed up enough for face level. In my case, folks are going to be really close to the camera when they reach for the doorbell so getting face details isn't a problem.

@EMPIRETECANDY Andy, can I get this camera exchanged for another one? This first one is clearly not 2.8mm and it has a very noticeable issue with some clicking sound. Here's a video with the audio clicking sound that is ever present.

I didn't use any special paints. I put some of the same house paint (I think it's Behr Premium exterior latex) I had in a sprayer attached to my compressor and used that.

@jayson436 In your camera settings, under audio option, is there a way to turn off noise cancellation? (For me, different camera, IPC-HDW5231R, turning off noise cancellation improved audio for me.)
