Weather Cam project with IPC-HDW5231R-Z Starlight

New firmware, new (old) problems... With the last upgrade to .2r and same settings, now the cam stuck all day long at 3 frames/s. Although the picture at day and with sun is normal as ever. Resetting to defaults doesn´t change it.

@nayr can you please test it with your´s ? before i downgrade. Profil normal and customised settings like these : Weather Cam project with IPC-HDW5231R-Z Starlight
i proved the frame rate with tinyipcammonitor.

I'll check it out tonight; im a lil too high on cloud 9 right now to be any use to anyone (see my profile message)

Best wishes to you and your wife :D
for me two children's are enough, more wouldn´t fit in my caravan LOL

this is our 2nd, cant have 3 or I'd need a damn Minivan; already not too pleased that im giving up my Diesel Golf for a Diesel Toureg.. I mean yeah its an upgrade; but I love having a 6spd and a compact car.. but 2 car seats in a Golf leaves no room for anything else, like dogs.. or even a small bag heh.

Congrats!

Here are some updates to the new firmware release 2.460.0000.2.R, Build Date: 2016-12-16

But i will try if now the day/night profil switching will allows normal frame rates at day.

And some more playings, 3dnr grade with 25 is much enough with 3 frames/minute. That´s nice.

A good point, later on i will see how i can reach this. On the camp side, i have only an sdcard in the cam. Maybe possible, i am not sure how many frames I need to generate to this. Maybe 1 frame/min ?

would give you a 25 min replay each second at 25 fps, sounds good, try it at night when no cloud to check stars moving in the sky but if you have a lot of light pollution it may not be as good as full night.

But you can also use a PC that will call the snapshot URL of the camera every minute and then use any JPG->MP4 convertion tool (command line or with graphical interface) and may be the camera is able to do regular snapshot itself and send them somewhere on a FTP/NAS

ah thanks for the follow up; that explains why I could never replicate your profile issue.. I been in the habit of changing to the profile then configuring it and saving it, never tried selecting a different profile than what I had forced on schedule... mainly because if you temporary change profiles on the exposure tab it will randomly switch back while I was testing; there's like a timeout in there too if you dont hit save where it switches back to what's set on the schedule tab

I hope the summer sun will not burn in or damage the sensor. The backlight compensaition is working fine.

I hope stars will be better visible without ground lights. But for now, it looks nice.

And a small update for the Framerate problem of profil switching, although I deactivated auto rebooting I noticed today, that the daytime framerate is fixed again at 3f/s. I don't know how it was possible, I changed nothing the last weeks. I changed it back to 25. Let's see how long it lasts.

The cam is now on the caravan. I am not 100% satisfied.
- I didn't expect the bending effect so much at 90 degrees
- It's difficult to find a balanced setup for seeing stars. I hoped they could be better visible. It's the 3dnr it kills darker stars, I tried to lower it as much as possible, but then the noise is getting to much. With black and white it's not much better.

What do you think?

I am thinking about mounting a pole for the birds, but they also like the cam :D

The youtube stream:

Stream trough raspi:
Code:
avconv -rtsp_transport tcp -i rtsp://user:password@192.168.10.2:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1subtype=0 -t 12:00:00 -pix_fmt + -c:v copy -c:a copy -strict experimental -f flv rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/YourCode

Its using h264 with smart codec on.
i wanted to use h265 but Encoding/hevc
shows hevc but when i use the option i receive an unknown option error

Can somebody help?

You wouldn't be using an h265 encoder on the raspberry pi anyway. You'd just be doing the same lightweight repackaging of the video stream that you do now to send to youtube.
