In the past 3 days I have read through literally hundreds of pages of comments relating the issues that some
Blue Iris users are dealing with in their effort to connect to the B.I. webserver through their local network. I have always been able to get in but not this time. I have a new install of B.I. 5 on a Windows 10 Pro system dedicated to B.I. I get all of the proper responses and green check marks when I run the Web Server Wizard. I can ping my 192.168.xxx.xxx:81 B.I. system PC and it is seen by "Canyouseeme' and 'Whatismyipaddress' along with the port 81. I have opened/allowed the Blue Iris 5 app to the Windows Defender as well as a Windows Defender TCP rule for port 81. I have tested with Windows Firewall turned off temporarily and I have a TCP/UDP port forwared in my router for 81. The odd thing is that I am able to get into B.I. with the Android app on phones and tablets but not from any of the computer (PCs or Macs) on my network. What keeps spinning around in my head, as I stare at the bedroom ceiling until 3AM and bolt right back to my system, is this: How can I be able to ping the address and port and get in to B.I. via WIFI and cellular on my phone but NOT from a computer my own network via ethernet or WIFI? I imported all of the settings from my previous B.I. server into the new one and then confirmed that they are all correct. Everything else work incredibly well! I am thrilled by the speed and how smooth it runs... I just don't have my trusty UI3 that I typically monitor from my workstation during the day. Having to prop up my cellphone as a monitor is a poor replacement. A lot of you guys are smarter than me even on my best day so please prove me right once again and let me know if you have any thoughts on this. Oh, once I get this working I am then going to figure out how to make my system secure from the outside world once and for all. So, I'd like thanks to Sabatiantombs for the boot in rear to do so. I just want to see this work first before complicating things with more variables. Happy New Year, guys.
