Hi all

That should have been DS-2CD2232-I5 in the title.

I am entering this world of total confusion with the many cameras in the market place but am concentrating on HIKVISION product.

Coming to terms with decoding the model numbers used by them, I have not turned up anything indicating what the 5 means.

That may be a really simple question for many of you, so I thought this would be the easiest way to ask and find out. I have found a couple of useful images in threads in this forum plus one at http://www.stwong.com/?p=389 for decoding but nothing indicating the meaning of this last digit

Welcome to the forum. It means that the IR is "rated" at 50m.

Ah of course - thanks for the speedy reply. One more "mystery" I can put aside now.

Actually I saw something on a camera rated to 80m and I think they used an X in that model number.
