I saw it once but now after going through it I don't find direct to disc. Should I use this. fenderman and other believe it is the way to go? Why is that other than CPU usage? Thanks.
Set up each camera with "camera properties", "Record" "Video File format and compression" then under "Video compression" select "Direct-to-disc". Once I selected Direct to disc then the 48 camera Hikvision setup dropped from over 100 % CPU usage to 32% with spikes up to 52 % when all 48 cameras are active (I set the cameras at 12 to 15 fps. Can't be more pleased with the stability of the system.
FYI: Have over 25 Hikivision DS-2CD2442FWD-IW 4MP 2.8mm cameras in a 48 Hikvision camera (bullets and cubes, 3MP and 4MP some 2 years old) system with two (BV-Tech) POE-SW2402E-ECO switchers managed by
Blue Iris software on an HP ENVY 750, ™ i7 quad-core [4.0GHz). Ken at Blue Iris gives great support (Priority support is well worth the yearly cost). FYI - Longest run over 250 feet to outside bullet camera to punch down panel connected to the switches. All 48 images stable, sharp and crisp, sharp, wide angle, good in small rooms and large rooms including gym. Taylor at POE is awesome helped with getting technical support. (Must use IE with with security settings set to all Active X controls and plug-ins enabled to access camera controls).
