Night capture, little traffic for me to experiment with, going to play around with the settings some more.

Yeah, the camera can do better. Did you see how @IReallyLikePizza2 plates just jump off the screen and he is at comparable angles and heights to yours.

You also need to figure out how you will deal with the nighttime focus issue - at a 1/2000 shutter the image will be completely black and you will need to either force the focus using the sunrise/sunset utility that a member here created
The manual focus option works just fine. The cam does not try and focus when it goes from day to night, at least my two do not. The focus for me is the same day or night.

I am on the following firmware:
V2.800.0000000.22.R, Build Date: 2020-11-19

Make sure you pump up the IR:

PS: I tried all last night to get the Dahua Sunrise/Sunset utility to work with no luck on any of the cams I bought in 2020. I can get it to work for all of the other, older cams, but not the newer ones. I just can't figure it out.

No issues with the HDBW4231's, HDBW4239's, HDW5231's, HDW5431, or the SD12203T-GN's.

But my HFW5241's, T5442's, B5442 Z4, and the T2231 all will not connect. If I use port 80, I get
3/12/2021 9:01:58 PM Exception thrown attempting web request (): The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

If I use port 81:
3/12/2021 9:02:25 PM Exception thrown attempting web request (): Unable to connect to the remote server

So the IP address is correct. The ports for every cam are the same:

So I have given up.

@samplenhold - I guess you are lucky the focus matches. Mine are 18 spots off between color and B/W and only the utility holds it. I will have to see what firmware I am running.

Bummer you cannot get the utility to work on newer units. It works just fine with my 5442 I bought on the Black Friday sale.

You have been around long enough to have tried this, but did you confirm there isn't an issue with a user or PW for those? Seems odd every one of these you would have keyed in wrong. But my 5442-Z4 works fine with it.

I wonder how many cameras the utility can support?

Let me look at mine and see if I see something, but I know I didn't do anything different when I added mine in back in November.

So. is the Night and Day in the Web UI a choice that will not change as darkness falls and sunrise begins? If you choose Day Profile, thats it. Its stuck on Day profile all night right?

Yep, they still can't fix it. You would have to go to the schedule in the camera and set a day and night time profile, but then you have to in every couple of months to adjust it for changing daylight.

I ran mine 24/7 B/W for a year before going to the sunrise/sunset utility so that I could run color in the day.

The night/day profile will switch when the light sensor decides to. Which means typically the focus shift thing happens. With wider normal lit scenes this isn’t an issue , but with LPR and fast shutter times it means loss of fine focus.

I just never tried it before last night. It was one of those things that I said "Gotta do this, sometime". No, all the cam's user is admin. All of the cams passwords are the same. I actually was only trying one cam just to get it running. When the LPR-E cam would not connect, I went to the LPR-W cam. Then the Intersection cam (B5442 Z4). Then the driveway cam (T5442 6mm). So them I tried the HDW5431 and it worked. As did the HDW5231 and all of the other older cams.

Currently, my cams are set using Schedule.

Which means that the day settings are used from 7:30am until 5:30pm. Then the night settings are used. It is just a pain as I have 15 outdoor cams to change the times on and have not kept up with it.

@samplehold - I looked at mine and hopefully figured it out!

My newer cameras does not have the port :80 after the IP address in the sunrise/sunset utility.

Also go into the cameras further down on the list and increase the time that it sends the commands to the camera.

Yeah I read through the entire thread twice yesterday and last night. Saw that someone stated not to use the port number. I get the following error:
3/12/2021 9:43:34 PM Exception thrown attempting web request (): The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

I have tried version 1.6.0 and 1.4.1 but get the same issues. What version are you using? Will try the increased time.

I am running 1.6.0

Going thru my logs, the only time I got that error was when a camera went down (the dreaded SD card curse LOL) or I keyed in the wrong IP address or user/password setting up. I did notice that one of my cameras was sensitive to the case of the username - I was typing admin but it needed to be ADMIN

Maybe try adding a new user/pw to the camera and trying that?

If you manually go to this web address in your browser (Chrome, IE, whatever) on one of your cameras what happens:
http://admin:password@ipaddress:port/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&VideoInMode[0].Config[0]=1

Will you get an "Ok" and have it switch to night mode? That is the exact path I use to flip my 5442's to night mode. Substitute ...Config[0]=0 to go back to day mode.

So here is the funny part. I have two T5442TM-AS cams installed. One is 6mm and the other is a 2.8mm. The 2.8mm works and the 6mm gets 404ed. They both have the same firmware version. The other three cams that will not work are the two LPR cams HFW5241E-Z12E and the B5442E-Z4E. The other 11 work just fine.

Case does matter. At least for me. In your example you screenshotted, you have everything in lower case. I tried that and it doesn't work on my cameras. I have to do it exactly like this:
...configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&VideoInMode[0].Config[0]=1 (bold letters are uppercase)
You can also drop the the http://user:password@ stuff and just do
http://ipaddress/cgi-bin/configManager.cgiaction=setConfig&VideoInMode[0].Config[0]=1 and it should ask for user/password.
