Which camera is best in complete darkness using IR only ??

Hi all,

So ignoring the Colour VU Light cams, what right now is the best IR-based Night camera to buy when there is no light?

Another question is, if running one of these cams via WiFi and recording via NVR 24/7, would that kill the wifi bandwidth big time?

Also add addition IR lights.

If you must use WIFI (not recommended) set up a separate wired access point, on a separate SSID and channel from your home internet for the camera WIFI.

We (IPVM) did a shootout recently on just this with 25 cameras. What we found was that some of the more expensive cameras did much better in delivering strong subject details, I've excerpted a section and a sample image:
Details on moving objects: The strongest weighted performance difference was simply the quality of facial details by each camera on moving subjects. While IR illumination evenness and power were important, cameras could include strong, even IR, but suffer from artifacts and noise making details unusable.
