Why is my Amcrest NVR not getting signal from IP cameras?

This is driving me crazy.
I have a 16ch Amcrest NVR.
It recognizes my IP cameras and populates them in the available cameras list.
But when I add them and put in the password, the NVR can't get the signal. The status symbol remains orange.

I know the camera is working and the password is correct, because I can easily log on to the camera from my browser.
What gives?

I have Vivotek FD8161s.
Hi @New Daddy

I do not know much about Vivotek, my guess is that you need to set them to use ONVIF profile and have the NVR channel set to ONVIF.

ONVIF has a number of profiles, you will want to check which profiles are supported by the cameras, and which are supported by the NVR. Ideally they can communicate using ONVIF.
