I got openvnp working on a asus router. I was able to connect to a Hivision nvr from a outside pc browser and wifi (vpn connected) t-mobile iphone 6. The ios app imvs-4500 works well. This was thru my local address without any port forwarding.

But I cannot connect with T-mobile LTE on , vnp on, and wifi off with the iphone using ivms-4500.
I did a port forward for http, server port and rtsp port. I can connect with only LTE on.

I also exposed myself to hackers.
I searched the forums and see similar problems with no connections using cell data and vpn.
Is there a way to use ivms-4500 with cell phone data and openvpn without any port forwarding?

first, even when port forwarding, you dont need to forward the http port for ivms to work.
Second, yes it should work...ensure you enter the LOCAL ip

Thanks Fenderman for the quick response. On the cell phone iVMS-4500 I have only the local address. With cell phone data and OpenVPN iVMS-4500 I get message ‘connection failed’. Hikvision faq says it could be issue with 3g, 4g.. and to try with different cell data. Maybe i’m A setting when using vpn and LTE ?

I finally got 4g to use openvpn android to connect to ivms-4500.
I was using t-mobile 4g and it timed out using openvnpn.
I found a thread 'Can't see home camera on t-mobile but can with AT&T' on support.t-mobile.com.

I signed up with H2O (ATT&T network) and I got to see my nvr !!!.

Thanks to this forum I am able to use openvpn and not do any port forward on my router.

The process is easy if you use a asus router with built in openvp.
It creates the client file so you can can install it to cell phone.

No configuration in needed for the client file.

It was worth it to buy the asus router.
