Can this not be set within local polices on the box? That’s how I’ve disabled updates and restarts in W10, I think?

You can enable is using this article, go to the 2nd section that details how to install gpedit.msc after which you run it to apply local policy settings.

The article is for W10, never tried it with W11 it from what I’ve read it should work.

I took the plunge and installed W11 on my laptop a few weeks ago and to date no issues whatsoever. Did a fresh install and the reinstalled all my apps and everything including apps for both my sons car and mine, used to talk to the car all work.

Feel snappier than W11 and the only annoyance to date is that being skinned lighter it’s just too bright, not looked at themes to see if there is something more eye friendly but I’m sure I can change the overall theme to suit.

Yes, I agree the back ground is eye numbing.

It’s not just the wallpaper, they’ve brightened all the dialogs and menus as well.

I was always going to do something about the default open windows in Win 10 that would have no border and you couldn't find the edge of it to drag one if several were stacked on top of each other...white on white don't get it for me @ my age.

So witnessing my Mother in Memory Care for 3 years, don't think giving Viagra to the Males would improve things, I could see them chasing after all the ladies, HAHAHA, it would be Chaos...Many of them Couple up thinking they are with their spouse, it was fun to watch their real spouse come visit them...
Also they all end up going in the wrong rooms, went one day to visit my Mom, she was out in the common room area, we went to her room we found a guy sleeping in her bed. LOL, I had fun with that one with her, "Mom what is going on here?" LMAO...

I loved windows 7 and have a old laptop and a few PC's that still have it, heck I have a computer with every OS since MSDos came out. Wait I lied.. I skipped windows 2000 and Windows ME, they were nightmares.

User Flintstone61 had it right, Windows 2000 was awesome in it's time, probably the most underrated OS Microsoft ever released. It was built on the NT core and was supremely stable, it was just never marketed to the general consumer audience, only to corporate/business office users. It only pre-dated XP by about a year, but was really the superior choice for several years well into the first decade of the 2000s.

Hold your horses and TPM chips. MS has announced that they're "rethinking" things to allow more machines to be able to run Win11. It seems there are still around 25 million still running XP, and that's 30 years old already. Where'd the time go???

Not sure if anyone else pointed this out, but with all due respect, XP was introduced 20 years ago, not 30. Yes, time flies, but not quite THAT fast, fortunately .
