I need the wiring sequence for the Swann nhd 887msfd Poe camera. The camera has 8 wires coming out. Tried to open female plug on cam but wires got messed up. I think the order is :
1 orange and white stripe
2 orange
3 green and white stripe
4 red & 5 red and white stripe are soldered to terminals together
6 green
7 black & 8 black and white stripe are soldered to terminals together

I know 4 red and 7 black are fed from a auxiliary jack in case you don’t use POE

the ethernet cables supplied by Swann only have four wires in them
1 Orange with white stripe
2 orange
3 green with white stripe
6 green
So to splice in a cat5 Jack plug to camera I tried the sequence above for the wires 1236 and it didn’t work any thoughts?

Maybe because 4&5 are tied together in the cam (POE +) as are 7&8 (POE -) ?
But nether 4,5,7 or 8 are used in the Ethernet cable, so even if there connected on the jack there will not be any power or data going up the cable from nvr .

Yes the camera has 8 wires coming out, two that go to an auxiliary power jack. Using the solid red and black wires. But the Ethernet cables Swann provides only has 4 wires inside it. Connected to terminals 1 2 3 + 6 as you can see in the pic in the post.

POE 10/100 Mode A (Mixed Data and Power) only uses 4 wires according to Wikipedia:
  • Rx + and DC+ on Pin1 (orange/white), RX- and DC+ on pin 2 (orange)
  • TX+ and DC- on pin 3 (green/white), TX- and DC- on pin 6 (green)

:idk:

Well as you can see in the pic of the jack plug I have them wired in the order you described.I’m at a loss also. Maybe someone else has an idea.

Bad camera?
Well the camera was working, it was new but there was some moisture in the lens so Swann was sending out a new one. While I was waiting for new one the moisture went away so I thought I would have it as a back up camera.
