^Yep it is why I said WizMind and WizSense are simply marketing terms that even Dahua uses loosely.

Find the camera that meets the qualities you want and purchase it regardless of what marketing name they give it LOL.

Yes, I saw these new camera's too.

I used their 'Product selector" to compare both versions of the IPC-HDW5442TM-ASE.
Differences between the 2 seem to be lower Min. Illumination and 4 instead of 3 streams.
The 'new' one also has Audio In/Out and Alarm In/Out.

But most differences seems to be in the IVS/smart detection but that's all a bit abracadabra to me, so what the real actual difference is there...I don't know...

Also the often recommended NVR5208/5216/5232-4KS2 series NVR's are now end-of-life (for a while already) and their isn't a real successor to that (the same with the NVR4104/4108/4116-4KS2 series NVR's).
There is a new line of NVR's including the NVR5208/5216/5231-EI with some really interesting upgrades in comparison with 'old' NVR52**-4KS (like much better Max Decoding and better AI by recorder/NVR).
But with those upgrades and now in the higher-end WizSense series of NVR's (instead of "Pro"), probably going to cost a lot more too...

Yeah the new 5442 seems to have
  • built in mic
  • stronger IR
  • enhanced AI
  • slightly different focus and min illumination specs

And as you said the old standby 52xx 4KS NVR is EOL

5442 Series i will go on using the web3.0, the new series not really have big improvement, so the 5442 series we will keep on the currently one till chips use up. Stable and good. :D
I will have some samples on new ones, yes, they are with WEB 5.0

The new HDW5442TM-ASE seems to use a somewhat cheaper body with more plastic and they'll be more the same diameter as the PFB205W (one thing I dislike about using a PFB204W with the current fix focal HDW5442TM-AS is that the cams diameter is much smaller). The difference will only be 3.7 mm instead of 16 mm with the 'old' one.

@EMPIRETECANDY What do you think about the price of the new fixed focal 5442?

Inevitable but slightly annoying, because it seems there isn't a direct replacement for it.

@jarrow Yes, the body of the camera looks cheaper indeed.

I'm interested in what the actual, real differences are going to be versus the 'old' camera's, also price-wise.

Does the new WizMind S IPC-HDW5442T-ZE-S3 have a CPU that is a lot more powerfull than the CPU on the now EOL WizMind 5 IPC-HDW5442T-ZE?

It would be nice, if the CPU allow it, to have some of the new AI features (like SMD 4.0 (when released), Deeplight, AI SSA, etc.) available also on the WizMind 5 IPC-HDW5442T-ZE with a firmware update.

I have a couple of the new Wizmind S series bullets HFW5442H-ZHE with the Deeplight and AI SSA
IPC-HFW5442H-ZHE

1- Not sure whats under the hood but nighttime "Deeplight" IR image is pretty damn good, better than my older 5442's
0.0006 lux@F1.2 (Color, 30 IRE)
0.0003 lux@F1.2 (B/W, 30 IRE)

New "regular" model 5442 HFW5442E-ZHE
IPC-HFW5442E-ZHE
0.0007 lux@F1.8 (Color, 30 IRE)
0.0004 lux@F1.8 (B/W, 30 IRE)

2 - As far as AI SSA, so far I'm not a fan
When you turn it on A) you lose control of Exposure, Iris, Backlight, and DNR - AND B) it activates for both Day and Night schedule. You have no choice but to use it 24/7 near as I can tell. At least I havent seen how to restrict it to just daytime..

Obviously it tries to make a real pretty static picture, but well with no Exposure or DNR control, guess what you get?

I do not know how I missed this thread. Now they have the Wizmind X series out. The illumination numbers appear to be the same or close to as posted above, but in 8MP. I have asked Andy about it, and I am waiting for a reply.

After further review even the Wizmind S would work for me. The Lux values are much better than the older 5442E-Z4E models. I need to look closely into the differences between the Wizmind S and X series. I have been asleep at the switch. Hahahahaha

Are you saying this from comparing the images, or from the specs? I ask because the 2231 has a better lux spec than the 5231, but I can't see a lick of difference between the images.
