Work Hours Recording - How to Invoke?

I'm brand new to Blue Iris and am using it with am Amcrest 841B camera.

The camera and software all seem to work fine; I have a picture and the combo records.

However, I THOUGHT I made a schedule so that it records only during my M-F 9-5 working hours there in my living room. But I just watched a baseball game there and saw it recorded ME for 2+ hours! Is there some button I press or something (probably very basic) that turns on my record trigger ONLY during the times I've set? I THOUGHT by clicking the "2" button on the top right that it would record only those working hours. Obviously I'm missing something very simple. Can anybody help me? Thanks. - Mike

post your schedule.
you need to set recording options independently for each profile. You will need to setup 2 profiles and set a schedule for when they should be active or you can manually engage them as you did, but they still need to be set, blue iris needs to know what to do when you hit number 2.
 
Thanks. I see there's a "Profiles" tab under "Blue Iris Options." In that tab I see a chart that shows, "Inactive, Active, Work Hours, Profile 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. However, I don't see anywhere how I may click on anything there to modify or do as you mention. Am I in the right place?

Wrong place. You need to read the help file and watch the video tutorials..you set the profile activity in each relevant tab for example the record tab....then in the sechedule you set when you want those respective profiles to be active

In my defense I can report that I have looked at the online videos and read the pdf manual/help document and still can't seem to figure this out (and Blue Iris does not have a help desk tel#). While I DO appreciate your help, I realize with such a sporadic forum thread such as this, written instructions we typically pass on here are far from easy to follow -- and this is all the more frustrating because I'm sure I'm only a mere 10 mouse-clicks and 5 minutes away from having this single basic function set up properly.

That said, would I be stretching the limits of temerity if I asked you, fenderman, or anybody else who may be kind enough to want to help and respond, to call me (if I provide my telephone number) at a mutually agreeable time so we could just knock this out in those 10 mouse-clicks in 5 minutes? Hey, I can only ask.

You dont get a help phone number for 60 dollar software. He would be broke.
The video is very detailed. All you need to do is go to the record tab. Profile 1 enable recording, profile 2 disable recording. done. There is a dropdown to select the profile you want to make changes to. Then in the schedule draw the times you want each profile to be active.
 
I can appreciate that - which makes my asking for your or anybody's phone help a bit more viable. Barring that I've evidently not found the specific video you refer to above that you mention is "very detailed." Would you be able to post a link to it? Perhaps that will make things clear for me. [BTW, I'm at work presently and not home at this moment.] Otherwise, er, I DO have the hard space to record hours of me sitting in a recliner but admittedly, with my looks it's not easy to watch. ;-)

I don't see the word "enable" or "disable" in the record tab. The videos seem to go off on a bit of a tangent about everything one CAN do. I think mine with a single camera only to record during working hours would be the simplest of setups. Are you sure we just can't talk on the phone for a few minutes? I'm only a human just like you and promise I won't bite. Here's my phone number in the SF Bay Area: 510-343-4133. It seems like if you or somebody merely gets me to the right screen and the right buttons, in a few minutes I could have this. Can somebody volunteer to talk to me? Please?

You dont need to see the word enable and disable. If you cannot figure out intuitively by looking at the options presented in the record tab how to enable or disable recording, you will need to hire someone to set everything up for you. There is simply no way you will be able to accomplish this on your own. Stop being lazy and do some work on your own. This is BASIC, its RIGHT THERE ON THE SCREEN!!!

I've read all the posts, the applicable parts of the manual, and viewed all the videos I can, so I assure you, I've put in quite a bit of effort and it has nothing to do with being lazy I assure you. Sometimes things that might be intuitive for one person might not be for another. People who teach understand this. I'm not stupid, I'm merely ignorant temporarily until I gain the knowledge I need. For me - and perhaps not you - this particular item is like a jigsaw puzzle, yet I don't even have the box lid to see what the final product might be. Often, it's helpful for one to learn if they're presented with the final product, then they can better grasp what was entailed to arrive at that final state by breaking it down for themselves. I'm thinking you feel this facilitates cheating when in fact it facilitates learning.

Please be happy to know that I'll seek my answers elsewhere (hopefully I can locate a list of a 5-step procedure) and/or may start another post. You possess the information I need but given the forum environment have become irritated about imparting of it. That's reasonable and I get it -- really I do (which is why I suggested a phone call). However, I'm disappointed that you've now chosen to berate me and be combative instead of recognizing I simply need better help. That said, please feel no need to reply further in this post (I will refrain also) or any new posts I might insert. In fact, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't. Again, I do thank you for your input until now; but maybe with a little luck, somebody somewhere will be more patient than you and facilitate my moving forward.

You have NOT read the posts, read the help file or watched the video. Sorry, I was being generous with the word intuitive. Only a complete idiot, could not, by looking at the record tab, figure out how to disable recording. ITS RIGHT THERE!!!!
If you read my posts you will see that I have, on many occasions in the past resolved things for folks via teamviewer. However, I will not help you as you simply DID NOT EVEN TRY. Stop being lazy and play with the buttons and dropdown menu on the record tab. See if you can figure it out.
