Worlds First Review - Dahua - IPC-Color4K-X / DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED - Full Color 4K Camera

Becouse 5849t1 is from s2 generation (s1 never had this full color varifocal) and is based on meta Taurus line.

Full color 5xx9 line have 4 different firmware lines. One lens 5849 have 3 different firmware lines. It’s messy :)

That was it, it took the update. I couldnt get it to take any others.

Thanks

Interesting thing:
a few days ago when I was on Andy firmware page, I found that there is a new dedicated firmware for Color4K-T-S2-black...

this is meta-taurus (not taurus or volt) firmware line, it means this is for a new SOC / camera variant released after 5442-S3 (with AcuPick and Video Meta Data), which can have totally different video characteristics (or not?)...
As I understand this is only for Color4K-T black model...

I tried to buy Color4K in S2 variant in Europe - but it looks like every dealer I know in many EU countries have only older S1 models on stock.

@EMPIRETECANDY can you tell us something more about this new Color4K-S2 version? Did you tested it? Do you want import S2 variants for other Color4K models (white, bullet)?

Yes, that is the S2 version of the turret.
4K-X will move to S3 next year.

Only black? Or white also you have in S2?
Did You tested it? does it have the same problems with firmware as S1 versions?
Especially digital sharpening / compression artifacts?

S3 next year? Not so fast?
S2 was released about 12 month ago and it's very hardly available anywhere (in EU they sold non stop S1)...

Any other news Andy about new products?

Dahua official website data is wrong.
HX5(7)XXX-Meta-Taurus
Both 4MP and 8MP models have the same RAM: 1GB

Honestly...
It's not recommended to enable video metadata on cam.
As it will reduce image quality and light intake.
The best solution is to enable video metadata on the backend of the NVR.

Um, I have it enabled on a 5442 Z4 and it produces a great image. I see no degradation

I'd show you but the forum is broken and wont allow images or video to be uploaded and there seems to be nobody administering the site any longer.. I snuck one in somehow but it wont let me upload any others

During the day when there is sufficient light, there is no significant difference.

Insufficient light difference between not enabling video metadata and enabling video metadata.

Are you referring specifically to the 4K/X that this thread is about or Dahua cams in general because bigredfish is talking about the 5442-Z4E in his post above?

Both.
I previously tried the HFW7842H-Z S1.
At night, when video metadata is enabled, dark horizontal lines appear.

HFW5849T1-ASE-LED S2 When video metadata is enabled at night,
a closer look reveals a slight decrease in image quality.
But it's not as noticeable as with the HFW7842H-Z.
This may be because the HFW5849T1 uses an F1.0 aperture.

No degradation on my Z4 at night in IR.

The rolling dark lines (rolling shutter) can appear on any camera with or without VMD enabled and yes seem to have do with the sensor not getting enough light for a given faster exposure time. It doesn’t seem to be unique to VMD or AI

I will agree I see it more in the 4K than on 5442s

I have very good video samples of this if I can get the forum to work

Did You read spec sheet and product brochure for this camera?

Time-Division Exposure technology ensures that when the device is taking multiple snapshots of more than one targets, the quality of the snapshots will not be affected. It can also be used to adjust the brightness, speed and more of targets, to produce high quality snapshots.

time-division exposure is only enabled in VMD mode.

I can't upload screen shots with materials about this feature (forum problems).

This camera in VMD mode automatically modify shutter time settings to capture sharp face and car plate snapshots.. You can overwrite settings chosen by VMD, by entering camera settings and one more time setting parameters (or choosing saved profile). But you must repeat this each time when You enable/reconfigure VMD.

ps. dark horizontal lines means you have faster (shorter) shutter time and camera starts to see PWM modulation, used by LED lamps/bulbs/drivers.. Cheaper/older LED drivers used PWM frequency at a few hundred to one thousand and something HZ. LEDs simply blinks at this frequency - and those frequencies are visible at camera shutters like 1/60 or faster as black moving lines.. Newer/better one use PWM at a few thousand Hz (or constant current LED driving) - and those should not create those problems.

FullColor S2 also have this feature..

Enabling video metadata will modify the exposure.
Manually resetting the exposure will correct for insufficient light levels.

Maybe thats why I dont see it.
I typically will change and refine settings, especially exposure, many times after initially setting up a camera

5442 never received TDE..
First PDF brochure for WizMind-S had info that 5442 will receive TDE in future as firmware upgrade.
but instead of TDE we received AcuPick 1.0, then AcuPick 2.0 and animal detection.

I just realized I dont have VMD on my two HFW5849T1-ASE-LED S2 ????
( I was referring to my Z4)

I guess thats part of a newer FW release?

Im currently on:

Device TypeIPC-Color4K-X-3.6MM
System VersionV2.840.0000000.28.R, Build Date: 2024-08-07
WEB VersionV3.2.1.1993215
ONVIF Version22.12(V3.1.0.1464287)

Algorithm Version1.0.8
Security Baseline VersionV2.3

if you don't have VMD on Color4K it means you have S1 revision.

Thank you
