Hi, I have a laptop from 2011. I booted it up and loaded Windows 10 Pro x64 on it and BI and so far works well but trying to see if it will work with more computers.

I want to run 6-8 IPCAMTALK cameras:
https://store.ipcamtalk.com/
-not sure on which model yet. But thinking about the 8MP(4K) 6 to start.

Stats on laptop:
core i7 - 2820qm @ 2.30ghmz (has quick sync enabled and working)
8GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 10 PRO 64x
256gb SAMSUNG SSD
The laptop as an ethernet adapter.
External HD WAS GOING TO DO 10TB WD PURPLE in this contraption:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E80N2E8
Is there a big difference between WD101PURZ vs wd100PURZ?

Would I run into any issues. I am trying to avoid buying a desktop if this laptop can do the trick.

So far I had no issues running 2 cameras after optimizing:
Optimizing Blue Iris's CPU Usage | IP Cam Talk

Any help without being too hard on me would be grateful.

I would just like to run the laptop and do everything remotely. Anyone have a good post about VM or any other good info?

Thanks

Any suggestions on that? What issues would the laptop run into? The cost of a desktop is really not an issue and don't mind spending 3-400$ but don't want to bother of the laptop can work.

There are many threads on both topics.

Which is best thread out there - there are too many.

But I was hoping someone had a similar setup and got away with running it on their laptop.

Don't be scared of the search button the topic doesn't have to be discussed 40 times.

Ok. I was more concerned with anyone that could figure out if this laptop could be good to go but will use search for the other question.

What do you run?

Yes this is where I did start and my main concern is if my laptop could run it as it was not in the list. Even though it is a 8 year old system it still has quicksync and core i7.
I7 is a meaningless term. You have absolutely no chance of running 6 8 megapixel cameras on that laptop. Go back and read the wiki.

Well it is why I added it was 2820qm @ 2.30ghmz core i7 and hoped it would be suitable. I will look into other computers.
