When trying to remotely view my cameras I can only use wifi to see them, but I am not able to view them using my mobile data. I don't get this as a pop up"Your device is not connect to WiFi. Be carful about dataflow consumption"

What software are you using ?
When on the cell network are you first connecting to your home network ?
What are make and model of cameras ?
 
Ignore the message. It’s just telling you you’re not on wifi

Check your device profile IP address, and make sure you’re viewing the “extra” or sub stream.

Likely you’re using port forwarding which is not very secure, you should be using a vpn

The thing is that I get this message when I turn off WiFi, but also in doing so I'm no longer able to view the cameras.

I did find this though, but I'm lost as to how I do any of this really

Q8: Via wiki LAN connection you can connect, but you cannot
connect via data flow.

1. Connection via WiFi works, so device setting is correct, so please try
the following via mobile phone :

Add a static WAN IP of the device.

. Place the device under router with WAN IP, and set http port
mapping.

Build device under WAN, if the device supports P2P and P2P
registration is successful, and then adds by P2P.
 
You are indeed connecting through P2P. But something blocks your imaging when not being on your home LAN wifi.

My suggestion:
  • disable P2P immediately
  • deploy a VPN server
  • connect phone through VPN client towards your IP/domain (LAN IP) of your NVR

And thén you are good to go (and safe!)
