I need to upgrade my old analogue setup and I've got around £500 to spend. Looking at getting 4 cameras but would like the option to add more later. I've attached photos of my current camera locations. Ideally a better field of view would be great. There are no street lights in the car park but there are on the other locations. I need one of the cameras to be able to get a decent picture where I've circled in red untill I get a CCTV setup on the garage. Which cameras should I go for and where should I buy then ?

yes hopefully. been trying to have a look at prices but they vary so much depending on where you buy them. i know some could be chinease copies. seen some 6mp on amazon for around £80-£90 but also seen the same cameras for £50 on ebay. been getting a lot of results for EZIP as well, is that just a cheaper version of dahua?

But the NVR and the cameras from the same manufacture and better yet he same supplier. Some manufactures block adding cameras from different manufactures amd different locations. So an NVR designed for the UK may not work with cameras make for china even from the same manufacture.

Make sure your cameras are upgradable.

Kits with NVR and cameras included, may seem to have a better price, put quality or features need to be cut to reduce the price.
See in for on ANdy at the bottom of my post.

My standard welcome to the forum message.

Please read the IP Cam Talk Cliff Notes and other items in the IP Cam Talk Wiki. The wiki is in the blue bar at the top of the page.

Read How to Secure Your Network (Don't Get Hacked!) in the wiki also.

Quick start
1) If you do not have a wired monitored alarm system, get that first
2) Use Dahua starlight cameras or Hikvision darkfighter cameras if you need good low light cameras.
3) use a VPN to access home network (openVPN)
4) Do not use wifi cameras.
5) Do not use cloud storage
6) Do Not use uPNP, P2P, QR, do not open ports,
7) More megapixel is not necessarily better.
8) Avoid chinese hacked cameras (most ebay, amazon, aliexpress cameras(not all, but most))
9) Do not use reolink, ring, nest, Arlo cameras (they are junk), no cloud cameras
10) If possible use a turret camera , bullet collect spiders, dome collect dirt and reflect light (IR)
11) Use only solid copper, AWG 23 or 24 ethernet wire. , no CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum)
12) use a test mount to verify the camera mount location. My test rig: rev.2
13) (Looney2ns)If you want to be able to ID faces, don't mount cams higher than 8ft. You want to know who did it, not just what happened.
14) Use a router that has openVPN built in (Most ASUS, Some NetGear....)
15) camera placement use the calculator... IPVM Camera Calculator V3
16) POE list PoE Switch Suggestion List

if you are interested in International Dahua cameras, a forum member sells dahua (and some Hikvision) and ships world wide. You can read some of the members recommendations on his service. He also provides cameras to other forum member for evaluation and reviews.
you can email him for a quote, or purchase from his Aliexpress store or his Amazon store. The cameras are fully upgradable, he posts upgarde software when available.

If you buy too cheap cameras, after a while, you'll realize that is as you throw money in the rubbish, I'd suggest to buy a couple of good camera, so in future, you can buy others, but is important start with a good base. You mat consider. for eg, one NVR4108-8P-4KS2
which is an 8 channels NVR, with four PoE ports (in future you can buy a cheap 5 ports PoE switch, like this), and for the cameras, the new 4 Mp AI serie, fixed lens, or varifocal lens.
