US Elections (& Politics) :)

Senate Republicans Block Minimum Wage Hike
The time I worked for minimum wage it was appropriate for my skillset, and I was happy to have my own money.

I was able to increase my skillset over time, and minimum wage was never a concern anymore. Everyone should get what they are worth.

Folarin Balogun got a Trump card. President Trump put his thumb on the scales and liberals are angry this man is not canceled from the game.

Folarin Balogun will be available to play the USMNT’s World Cup round-of-16 match against Belgium after his one-game red-card ban was suspended, FIFA has confirmed.

PS - I don't watch soccer, but may now that "our great leader" has ordered the forgiveness of Balogun's sins.

(There's no term limits for soccer players but there should be for politicians) - JMHO :headbang:

About the red card affair, like everything else we're fed only propaganda and don't know the truth. A counter argument is that the ref issued the red card on the basis of a video review, and violated the rules of how he was allowed to use the video. Just another big can of worms.

It just doesn't look good that Donnie (allegedly) called up FIFA and demanded action. That stinks to high heaven.
Regardless of the outcome now, the whole thing is tainted. If the USA wins the whole thing, there's going to be a big asterisk next to the win.

The issue here is political intervention in the sport. If you go over to X, now every country political/elected representatives are asking a review of their respective countries red/ yellow card.

Also FIFA suspending Russia due to Ukraine war but not Israel. Fifa said it won't get involved politically when the press asked about Israel ongoing military assault, which the UN itself has designated has a genocide.

Will Trump get involved in Olympics as well, who gets to compete and who doesn't get the gold.

The fact is US government including previous administration has used political threats in Olympics governing body IOC, Motorsport governing body FIA, Tennis ITF/WTA, Basketball, ATP to ban countries like Russia and others.

Political threats and actions like sanctions should stay the fuck out of sports and international court like ICC.

I totally agree. But what happens if the ref is biased and breaks the rules? Seems like a complete no-win catch-22 situation. Ref gets away with it, or the victim appeals and looks bad. Maybe this upcoming game should just get cancelled? No way, money rules.

The rule supposedly broken is that the refs are allowed to use only full speed video playback, and this one did it in slo-mo. I would think there would be witnesses if true.

The biased ref has happened in every sport from Football to Tennis. But unlike football, other sports have changed and started using technology where the other team or player can get instant appeal or overturn.

FIFA should change the rules but not selective applying of rules.

In recent years many NBA and NFL players have become increasingly and outwardly involved in politics. It wasn't enough to be paid a ridiculous salary to play a game they also needed their egos massaged and for the sheep-like fans to shower them with social media praises and likes.

Now those in politics want a piece of that narcissistic action.....they figure turn-about is fair play, right?

That said, you cannot find a single person on this planet that could care less about opinions on any topic from atheletes and politicians than myself........not one. :headbang:
