Dahua OSX Software Bundle (*.DAV playback on Mac OSX)

Dahua OSX Software Bundle / Dahua Video (*.DAV) Playback in Mac OSX

Download: Dahua OSX Software.dmg (176.9 MB)
  • SmartPSS - v2.00.0

Why download this bundle? Because Dahua distributes software compressed in .bzip2 formats which OSX has no native way of handling, and the dahua download servers from china are usually extremely slow and difficult to navigate.

  • Event Logs and Alerts
  • H264/H265/SmartCodec Support

SmartPlayer Features:
  • Watermark Verification
  • Grouping Multiple Streams for Sync'd Playback

just an update, Ive noticed when I increased my recordings to 30min length I was unable to seek through the files anymore, quite a pain in the arse.

backed the files down to 10m segments and I can seek around again fine, must be a size limit of some sorts where mplayer fails to index the file.

Attached is a simple Mac OSX utility that will convert Dahua *.dav files to Standard *.asf pretty quickly, tested on OSX 10.9 and the resulting files play and seek fine using VLC player.

This screenshot from VLC shows resulting video details from a 3MP Capture on a dahua camera with Audio

I used Handbrake to convert the files to mp4 but seriously would love this smart player. Where did you find it?

What do you use SmartPSS besides just casual viewing? I love SmartPSS but it seems like a PC/MAC only type of NVR similar to BI (less features). I have an ION NVR but its less user friendly than SmartPSS. I'd love to set it to record and be done with it, but I would probably need to leave my mac on all the time :\

I have a dedicated display on my Mac just for SmartPSS, so its not 'casual'.. its always on.. only Chrome gets more real-estate and used more than SmartPSS on my tri-display workstation.

I also have a Dahua 4216-4k nvr, and combined they are quite sweet.. playback of video could not be easier or quicker, many times I see something happen.. then right click and hit instant replay, then I can fast-forward/rewind/pause whatever crazy shit I just saw.

you can also set it up to give audible alerts to alarms/events.

Nice NVR...you are leaps/bounds above where I want to be. Does that nvr send a pic when motion is detected?

it can push either a still picture, video recording or live video to your mobile device through the native gDMSS/iDMSS apps; triggered by motion/line-cross/intrusion detection/facial detection/audio detection/etc... so the answer is yes.

Nayr,

Thanks for all the links and help. One thing that is driving me crazy is that i can't download one full length file and they are all chopped up in pieces. Is there any way to get 1 file to share with the police that is start to finish in a format they can use on their computers?

Thanks,
Mik

Anyhow, thank you nayr very much. Like the other guy said, you are way above where I want to be. I don't even know where to start.

extend your duration length in recording settings.
HI ! Thanks for your post. It's working fine and is complete ! :cool:Just a question about this "duration length" : when I try to make a conversion to AVI, there are just a multi AVI files (duration : 6 sec.). I try to extend the "interval" or make a 10 min. movie but there are always multi AVI from 6 sec.
Can you help if you know how to convert a DAV to 1 AVI file (with an "acceptable" duration :rapture:) ?
Thanks a lot and great job !
