The more and more I stay here, I don't know how nayr and fenderman keep their patience.....people either need to just pay someone to install this stuff or start learning to research. A lot of this stuff can be found faster with Google, then making a thread or post, and waiting for someone to do the work for them. I feel like an asshole asking for something that has already been posted and I miss it in a search.
That's a good video, but as hmjgriffon said and as I have found out each camera seems to have a different interface for setting up IVS. For example the video you posted doesn't match what comes up for my 59225 but does somewhat match up with the one for my 29204T-GN ( I have to use Firefox with the plugin to get to the IVS settings on the 59925, nothing else will let me set it up). That's my main issue with the Dahua's is the setup interface is not the same across all cameras it seems. So you still have to do some trial and error to get through the setup.

Have you found anything relating to the importance of setting up the calibration tab? I've tried it both with and without setup and haven't seen a difference yet.

Those settings, while similar to the SD59225U-HNI PTZ are NOT the same. In the past week, I've probably watched all the Dahua auto tracking videos posted to YouTube. I can't find one that outlines the software running on the SD59225U-HNI PTZ, so the video you posted probably won't help hmjgriffon set up his auto tracking properly.

So far I've got mine tracking cars, now I just have to experiment with the settings enough so I can get it to track people reliably

And if that's the case then good Ole tinkering will have to be done... still waiting for my ptz to get here to see what all the fuss is about.

I saw that, the things he uses do not exist in this camera, so it's really not helpful, like I said, I googled it.

What all settings did you use, just the ones in this thread?

I reset everything to the factory defaults. Once defaulted, I just set up a tripwire and changed Anti-Distrub to disable, sensitivity to 6, and valid tracking distance to 73 under global setup. However, I still have a lot of adjusting to do.

Thanks, I didn't even see that. The help file explained a little bit but didn't explain all the features under IVS. I'll look at it more tomorrow.

@looney2ns what firmware version are you currently running on the camera? Mines
2.420.0000.9.R.2512, Build Date: 2016-07-12
WEB Version 3.2.1.360570
ONVIF Version 2.42
PTZ Version 3.00.48.RHNT
It was in post 92 of this thread. ;)

Are you running the latest update .10?
Did you install the proper intel hd driver?
Did you exclude blue iris from virus scans as indicated in the help file and readme file?

It's my super grandpa wisdom at work, according to nayr.

Glad you got it working, now if I could get BI to run more than 12hrs without locking up:

Also if you have an extra video card or any extra hardware in the machine you could try removing it completely, had my first BI box keep locking up because of a discrete video card

So far I haven't had any luck getting the auto tracking to follow a human target. Sometimes it'll just zoom in or spin around 360 degrees and return to it's home position. I'll play with the settings more when I have more time. I wish I was able to get it to auto track like this one
Although the PTZ function is working with Blue Iris, sometimes it's sluggish and delayed or doesn't respond at all. It's pretty much unusable on the mobile app or while using the web viewer on Internet explorer. I'll have to email Ken about these issues tomorrow. @hmjgriffon I think I might know why we couldn't get the PTZ to work with BI without turning off ONVIF authentication, however, I'll test my theory at a later date. If @looney2ns is using the default user/pass of admin/admin that would explain why he was able to get the PTZ functions to work without turning off ONVIF authentication.

This firmware does seem a little buggy compared to my other Dahua cameras and my old Dahua 4x PTZ that I no longer have. I wonder if @EMPIRETECANDY has newer firmware for this camera (Not that I will upgrade right now, but I would strongly consider it, if it makes auto tracking more usable)

Next step is to put a contact in my mailbox and have the camera go to the mailbox preset when its opened (using zwave and Blue Iris or my Vista 20p and Blue Iris).

I will check for the firmware and if have newer i will send to you seperately.

A quick goog search on "Edge Storage" and came up with this:

Edge storage or on-board storage means the video recording at the edge of the Ethernet network as opposed to transmit the data across the network. The edge storage is able to provide three main benefits; decentralized storage, redundancy, and low bandwidth. This is the reason why it's widely used in many IP cameras. Edge storage function enables camera to record video directly to a storage device such as an SD/SDHC card inserted into the camera. Additionally, it can store the snapshot either captured by motion detection or user's operation.

So, just another term for SD card to confuss old farts like me?
Thanks for the brief explanation, Nayr
So does edge recording just record to the card 24/7 when inserted ot does it only record motion...or can you set it however you like?

Yeah that guys web interface looks a lot different than mine, like he's got more options and stuff and it makes a little more sense. Im not sure how anyone would be using the default login since it forces you to change it the first time you log in but maybe. Mine seems to work find with ptz in blue iris and the mobile app. I wish I could use the mouse to control it though, buttons are okay but I coulda swore I read somewhere that in blue iris you should be able to say, draw a little box around something and have the camera move and zoom in. I was having that thing with auto tracking where as soon as it saw me it would just spin around and go home and it kinda sounded like the speed was going up and down. My firmware is pretty new like the middle of last year but if there is a new one, and someone else tries it to make sure it doesn't brick my expensive camera, I'm game lol.

@fenderman 1-Yes, 2-Yes, 3-I will double check that again. I've screwed around with it so much I'm not sure of much right now. But it is odd, that this almost always occurs at the top of the hour when it happens. :) Thank you.

@hmjgriffon No, don't have a seperate video card. Web interface supports the box drawing to zoom.

@smiticans No, I changed the password to a strong one at first log in.
