Hey Bro. I currently have a Vera that pretty much runs my whole house. I'm thinking about switching everything over to Domoticz for a number of reasons. My question is will Domoticz communicate with my DSC alarm system via envisalink? Everything else I have seems to be compatible.

Sold my NVR4216-4K to a friend and upgraded to a NVR5216-4KS2; from Lite to Pro.. loosing some alarm inputs but gaining better IVS Support.. New NVR should be here sometime this week I hope.

There's firmware for ANPR and this NVR; no idea what it does but I may try loading it up just to see.. would be awesome if it can capture plates in timeline but I suspect its just to support some external ANPR hardware.

Moved the MiniPTZ to the Kids room and finally strung a wire through the attic for the living room camera; Got a total of 10 cams online now

yep, thought it was gonna be a bitch because thats the point where the roof comes down and with blown insulation I could not get very close to this corner..

ran some metal fish tape up as far as I could, then up in the attic I took a coat hanger hook on a broomstick and stabbed it in where I thought it would be and immediately heard metal on metal.. so I twisted the coat hanger and yanked then suddenly the ethernet cable appeared before me, grabbed onto it from 8ft away in the middle of feet of blown in insulation.. on the first fucking try.

ended up being nowhere the bitch I thought it was going to be.. now to take a shower and get all this fiberglass out of my skin

Only the Black Face PTZ Left for Perimeter Starlight upgrade, and I'm already making arrangements w/andy for that..


Its totally been worth the upgrade; mine's not even that old but the quality increase has been amazing.. next up is a 2nd LPR camera hidden in my fence and zoomed on that intersection out front.

With a very sad heart I am giving my 2.0L Golf TDI back to Volkswagen in early April, one of my most favorite vehicles I have ever had the pleasure of owning.. but I'll be replacing it with a 3.0L Audi Q7 TDI with less miles and better equipped; I set a very high bar to entice me part with such a great machine.

Cool updates. Some questions:
1. I understand the need for most of your tripwires, but what do you use the ones on the middle-left picture for, LPR? Does that wide camera alarm and trigger a different zoomed-in camera?
2. What are the green boxes middle-right?

the all black one is my LPR camera, thats just flagging the recording for activity if I want a video.
The plan is to make the big PTZ start responding to IVS events via my home automation system; needa update my code to support the IVS now that its eventing through API; just havent had the time to work on it yet.. swapping out old camera's for new and playng with em for a few hours on a test rig is pretty easy in comparison.. I just now got IVS on the majority of the cams, My original system was pre-ivs.

The boxes are me and my son's feet wiggling on the coutch, they are highlighted as objects.. draws green boxes around activity, part of IVS.

The square blue are intrusion zones not tripwires, and will alarm on objects appearing within, for good for catching things appearing out of nowhere, they also trigger on cross too

I'll be interested to see how you are doing eventing through API cuz i'd also like to trigger BI that way using the IVS on the cams so BI can handle the alerting, snapshots and all that. Let us know. I'd like to use that on my driveway cam right now actually.

You gonna hack that thing and risk bricking it? Nice car, I prefer to drive something that gets me from a to b fairly cheaply but I know you got a more and more kids coming. I just don't know if I trust my life to something with so much automation, ptz chases a few squirrels? Fine, car does wonky at 65mph and I run off the road and die? Eeeeehhhh, lol.

COOL VR , Have you put that baby on a Dyno yet and dialed it in? Looks like the 12 valve head .. Any port and polishing or valve changes done to it ?



Not certain what your State Requires for smog testing or inspections but here in RI it is as strict and more so then California. By trade I am a Master Tech and Licensed State inspector. The States machines plug directly into the cars computers and read the factory programming, emission , etc. If the computer does not meet the requirements and emissions output your screwed. So if you mess with the fuel management system computer make a back up of the original just in case you need to re-flash it for inspection. You could always re-flash it to your performance settings after.

If you know how to read the programming which I am assuming you do from everything I have seen your posts just make certain the vehicle sends out the proper readings for emissions , engine coding , etc. so it will pass emissions testing if you have that in your state. Every state is a little different with requirements.

Would love to here about the onboard systems hacks.

The other thing you need to take into consideration is how the onboard computers are interlinked. SAFETY systems come to mind. What inputs/ sensors is the vehicle using to control, braking ABS, Suspension, Collision avoid, SRS, Speed Control, Seatbelt restraint system, Auto unlock in collision, auto window down in collision, Neutral safety interlock, Fuel System cutoff, etc. You mess with one thing and something else does not work.

Take into consideration (hopefully you never) have a serious accident and the Police and insurance companies hook up to the computer to read the accident recorded data. They will be looking at speed, braking, suspension, SRS , etc. to help determine what happened and who is at fault.

I know you are very skilled but if you never hacked on board systems of a high end vehicle they can get a little sticky. As long as you know how to read the programming data, a man with your talents should be able to see all the connections between different systems. The wiring schematics come in handy when you want to do a pin break out test to see if your reprogramming is triggering the proper wiring so things don't go puff and smoke. Nothing worse then smoking a 300 window control switch or something else that costs big bucks.
