Is there a firefox plugin that works in linux? The plugin works fine on windows of course, but I run linux exclusively and I get a 404 error when trying to click the link to view the video.

I just use windows in a VM so I can use IE, fugg it, done fighting it, the chrome extension works but you can't resize the stupid window, virtual box FTW.

thing about surveillance cameras is, they are outside (usually) and lighting changes SO much that there really isn't much point in trying to tweak the settings too much because it's only going to apply to certain blocks of the day and then it's off others, may as well just leave it to auto lol. unless you are trying to make a specific video while you are sitting there watching something.

I think you are right about leaving the camera in it's default settings. I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that the camera's default settings provide the best image. Here are a couple of screenshots. One is from the video I recorded yesterday where I had changed some settings in the camera (I turned on WDR and changed the Chroma CNT setting) and the other recorded today at the same time using just the camera default settings). I prefer the camera's default settings.

Thanks Idasilva, the "Easy Viewer" chrome app does work on linux... I can resize the window too, always a useful feature Actually the stream is like 2 seconds behind "live", but that works for me still since I just need to see what the image looks like while making adjustments.

The "NACL" app which was suggested by Dahua when clicking the stream in Chrome does NOT work. I had to manually install the Easy Viewer app and that seems to get an image at least.

Wish these people would right some proper firmware. How hard can it be to load up an html5 video??

Interesting; I agree on leaving it on auto for the most part, but not really fair to compare settings across 2 different days as there might be more/less sun/clouds etc.

Everytime I screw with the cameras settings, I realize I can't get it any better than when I just let it do it's thing LOL.

exactly my point, are you going to tweak the settings everyday? you won't know when the sun is going to drop behind the clouds, its going to be overcast, hazy, on and on and on.

I would think that your best bet if you're getting a bad color tint would be a white balance adjustment rather than Chroma settings...For example, "outdoor" or "ATW" white balance may work better than "auto" for your scene..I'd just stay away from "manual" though, as any manual setting will only look good for a few hours at most and will need to be adjusted again.

Nice picture, from this location i think can put on a 4K PTZ, then will have a very good view.

That's odd...Will upload jpeg snapshots via FTP but not save them in that format to the computer..

The program makes you set a login the first time you run it, if you forgot the password you'll have to reinstall.

Also, the login to PSS and then the NVR can be different. I reset my password at initial setup of the NVR, so I had to enter the new credentials once PSS was launched. It tries the default Dahua credentials, but will keep you offline until you enter the correct info.

I forgot who was going to do it but someone was going to mount their PTZ to a satellite antenna mount on their roof, has anyone done that? was it stable enough? Gettin ready to climb on the roof and check out the two old dish mounts I've got up there, one is pretty heavy duty with an extra big dish on it. Also, did you use the dahua pole mount? How did you protect the wires and stuff.

I think it was @looney2ns w/a Pro PTZ, but I havent seen any sign he's got it installed yet
