Its march already, dont yeh think its about time to take down the xmas lights? ;)

that looks like a nice vantage point, as long as your not trying to ID anyone up close..

That pretty high up there, you might be getting more head shots and less facial shots.

If it was me, I would mount it just right above garage door height out of reachable
From ground to camera it's about 13' . When I zoom towards the end of the drive I will get some good pics of faces. This cam is more to catch what's going on. I am going to be installing a few more fixed cams lower at different angles to get cross coverage and better straight on views.

Did that mount come with your camera? I kinda want one like that but it doesn't really matter too much they both work.

if I were mounting a PTZ on a pole on my house, I'd get like a 2" piece of LDR pipe and weld a 1/4" thick plate to the top and a few links of chain at least half way up for guy wires.. then paint it with some truckliner from harbor freight.. but I have most all that stuff on hand heh.. then I'd put it in a cheap roof top antenna tripod and attach i-bolts to studs through the roof for the guy lines.. proabibly some thin galvanized stuff with a turnbuckle for tightening.

just to give you ideas; I tend to over-engineer the shit out of problems ;)

Going to play with the settings on this camera a little. Can't wait till tonight to see what this does in the dark. Maybe a can catch the owl across the road.
