Exactly, can't we just order now? lol :D
I think you guys are worrying way too much about having vulnerable cameras, like they will be hacked and your life will be ruined, just use a VPN and don't do stupid stuff.

I waited about a month and a half to get my 3 cams, and I paid in advance, these things are just ridiculously popular. I want more but I'm pretty sure I'd be waiting that and I won't buy more until the 3 I have are mounted lol.
That's a long wait!...I blame @nayre for all of this.

Those damn thorough reviews (and contributions from other regular contributors) here have really helped a lot of people like me decide and pull the trigger (or not) on this cam as well as make informed decisions on a lot of other related gear.
He's probably getting a commission from Andy for boosting his sales!...if not, maybe he should be! :).....or at least maybe a nice Christmas card in December...(I don't want to suggest any inappropriate business conflicts of interest.)

They'll make more of these cameras...and then they will eventually make better ones and hopefully all the info and reviews on this site will help others avoid picking the wrong equipment for their needs and wasting their time and money and we all learn a few things along the way, (except how to gracefully end a run-on sentence).

Anyway, just throwing out a long winded THANK YOU to the top 20 or so guys here who keep this site hopping by sharing their experience, testing, researching and of course by exhaustively answering some of the same 'basics' type questions over and over and over without (too much) complaining for people who can't figure out how to use the site's search engine sometimes.

I'm on the same boat guys. Ordered Dahua NVR from Andy (already delivered), bought WD Purple 6Tb, 8 port POE switch, but don't have any cameras yet. Been checking Andy's Aliexpress page every day but no joy yet...

Oh? I really thought it could pan and tilt?
Why Does it say this in the Specs?
Pan:0~360; Tilt:0~78; Rotation:0~360

Can that only be fine by hand then?

It's varifocal. You point in the direction you want it manually and then dial in using the camera software how zoomed in or out you want. It gives you a little play when figuring what focal length you want. I like the varifocal because as I add cameras that may overlap some, I can zoom in for clearer facial recognition. Or zoom out to cover more field of view.

PTZ and varifocal get confused a lot around here.
Let's rename "Varifocal" to "mPmTaZ" where M = manual and A = Auto
You can pan and tilt this camera all day long as long as you stay up on that ladder.

great news from Qnap for NAS users:

We have finished the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z camera integration .

Please let me know the current firmware version including build No. of this TS-453A . we will prepare a Surveillance Station beta with IPC-HDW5231R-Z support as soon as possible .

Thank you
Best regards
That is great news. I also hope they will support the IPC-HFW5431E-Z5 soon.

I plan to use the IPC-HDW5231R-Z for general surveillance and the IPC-HFW5431E-Z5 for LPR.

Have you checked out the HDW4231EM-AS? It's little more than 100 dollars but similar to this 5231 with fixed lens

The 4231s are ones I am using inside garages and our backyard.

Dahua Starlight Fixed Lens Turret (IPC-HDW4231EM-AS)

I brought mine from Andy

I agree. I have the 4231 installed in my garage and it's great. Highly recommend the camera. I am waiting for the 5231's for outside.

I have the bullet revision of the 4231 and looks can be deceiving, but the picture quality is sharp and focused. It even outperforms a 2.0 mp minibullet (from resellers like Amcrest and the like)
