Well I thought I would take the plunge and get some of these as they seem to match the low light capabilities of the very popular Dahua turret and as I have a HIK NVR would match my kit more closely.

I bought this from 'China Security Wholesale' for the original price of $120.

There was a delay until they got them in stock, but the bright yellow van arrived today and I've had a bit of a play.

First some specs.

Image Sensor: | 1/2.8" Progressive Scan CMOS
Signal System: | PAL/NTSC
Min. Illumination: | Color: 0.005 lux @(F1.2, AGC ON), 0 lux with IR
Shutter time: | 1/3 s to 1/100,000 s
Slow shutter: | Support
Lens: | 2.8 mm, horizontal field of view: 98°
4 mm, horizontal field of view: 78.7°
6mm, horizontal field of view: 48°
8 mm, horizontal field of view: 37°
12 mm, horizontal field of view: 23°
Lens Mount: | M12
Adjustment Range: | Pan: 0° to 360°, tilt: 0° to 75°, rotate: 0° to 360°
Day& Night: | IR cut filter with auto switch
Wide Dynamic Range: | 120 dB
Digital noise reduction: | 3D DNR

I bought two of these, a 6mm and a 12mm.

First some unboxing photos.

Comparison with the DS-2CD2342WD-I that it's replacing. It fits to the same DS-1280-M mount as the previous camera

It's up in place of the old camera and it's possible that there is an issue with the focus on this camera. See the photo below and the left had side of the scene, especially the left hand side of the bush is blurred.

Does anyone have an idea if I can solve this or is the camera defective?

Many Thanks,

Paul

Could you show us a picture at night while leaving the camera in color mode?

Just got this camera in the mail and installed it today. It's a quantum leap over the previous generation 3MP Hikvision that it replaced (DS-2CD2132F-IS). It's a no brainer upgrade.

I'd almost dare to say that it holds its own against some of my $600 full size dark fighter cameras. Maybe 80%-90% as good in terms of low light performance. I don't have an apples to apples comparison in the same location available but I've put up enough of them to have a good feel for it. Hell of a bargain for a low light camera at the $120 that I paid.

I have a DS-2CD2042 bullet camera 6mm/4mp which I replaced today with the 6mm/3mp camera in this thread. I can say the aspect ratio is certainly different. I will report on the night vision in a few more hours as I am on the West Coast. Update: Ok, I took some pictures. Old Hik camera is on top and the new Hik is on the bottom. Main purpose of camera is facial ID of someone next to the car. I have other cameras on the other side to the right. I see a nice improvement with this camera and will slowly switch out the others.

New 6mm/3mp as in this thread. Hikvision DS-2CD2325FWD-I

This is the camera next to the one in the above picture guarding the cars. It is a Hikvision Turret camera 4mm/4mp. I will replace it with one of the new ones. Maybe a 2mp/4mm this time and see how that works out. I have one more to the right of this one with a total of 3 cameras overlooking the cars. Looks like I need to trim the plant again.

I swapped out the 6mm with the 12mm to see how that fared, I did the directly at the neighbours house test to start and was a little worried as the right hand side looked slightly soft.

But actually getting it mounted properly it looks good.

Played with some settings and exposure to 1/100 and WDR on, more details in the bush. Will see how that works later.
