Ryan any chance of you all making a video of how to set up patrols and sweeps for this camera?
do you set different patrols for day sweeps and night sweeps?
can it auto track movements?
when will the brackets and pendant mounts be available?

We ordered some wall mounts from China, hoping they will be here in a couple of weeks.

Patrols and sweeps are a breeze to setup, we can help you but I bet you can figure it out in no time. didnt think it was worth a video

Yeah it can do auto-tracking as well, but I was reluctant to advertise it as auto-tracking in general is pretty unreliable on busy scenes. The one in my video for example, I tried it on that, since their were so many moving objects, the camera just didnt know what to do.

That's true if you enable the face check box it looks for round objects and tracks moving car tyres like one of those mad dogs but a great start into ptz for the price I am very impressed with its picture quality and easy set up

Yep 100% agree, excellent little PTZ with some nice 'bonus' smart features.

Great product for Nellys to stock and support.

Any tips on getting it to trigger recording while its auto-tracking - I get that motion activated recording is disabled while the PTZ movement functions are being actively used by if the camera's smart tracking function has picked up something it wants to investigate seems odd that recording can't be linked to that?

Hey @FrankMCN, that seems odd. In theory it should automatically start recording once it's triggered to track something. How are you trying to record the camera?

Hi Ryan, its hooked up to a NVR 7616NI-I2.

I can't get smart tracking itself it trigger recording - I can use VCA like face detection, line crossing, intrusion etc, but if I try using motion detection the camera actually turns off recording when it moves - either by manual PTZ input or its own autonomous smart tracking.

Interesting. Looking at ours I'm not seeing the option on Smart Tracking to choose which channel to record (D01). However, I did see Smart Tracking under the Line Crossing and Intrusion Detection settings which I think triggers Smart Tracking once the Event has been triggered. If that is true then the NVR should start recording once the line is crossed and while the PTZ tracks the movement. I'll do my best to test it tomorrow when I get in office.

Intresting - not tried doing it that way!

The PTZ supports upto 4 zones/lines perIntrusion/Line crossing/Region Entrance/Region Exiting Detection

are these setup per PTZ preset area? - i.e. could you set the PTZ looking in one direction and call that preset 1 and setup a intrusion zone 1, and then set another preset with the camera looking elsewhere call that preset 2 and setup another intursion zone? I tried doing it that way but the box I draw just follows the camera around regardless of where its facing (if that makes sense).

Where I'm going with this is it would be cool to have another IPC face a direction, setup a smart detection area on that IPC which would then trigger the PTZ to look over that way (via a PTZ preset command), the PTZ then starts to look for a target to smart track - zoom into, record etc - when its done then return to a central preset.

To set different smart events for different presets you set your camera to the view you want and save that preset, then go to smart events and draw the area for the event to trigger, then click save. After you've saved the first one select the second event number (line 2, intrusion 2) and then click on your second preset on the right hand side so the camera goes to that preset, draw the second smart event area, click save. Repeat as needed. (I was logged into the camera directly)

That's definitely possible up until the Smart Tracking, not sure if the camera will grab an object after its preset has been triggered through another camera. It should though. I've attached a screenshot on how to get the camera to trigger the PTZ through the NVR.

Hi Ryan, thanks for the pointers, I'm learning alot from you!

Unfortuatnly I can't get the camera to do what I want which is fine - the smart tracking was an unexpected bonus anyway and used the way the manufacturer intends its fine.

Regards the other smart features - using other IP cams to trigger a PTZ preset is fine but it takes about a second for the smart detection on the PTZ to become active for that preset position so chaces are the person, car, object has already moved on, also if using intrusion detection if someone is already inside the drawn box when it become active then it won't trigger smart tracking - this is better for monitoring a singe area of entry much like on the Hik demo vids, in those sorts of situations then it works fine.

Still going to play with it more - line crossing may be a better approach - but again all depends how fast an object is moving as the PTZ still needs time to get into positon (even though this one is pretty quick) and then the detection to go live.

Been using the 3MP version of this camera for a few days. Excellent service and price from Nelly's. It is my first PTZ so am taking some time getting to know the features. Am very pleased with daytime image quality. Auto focus works well and pans are very smooth. Nighttime image is ok but prob need to tweak some settings.

I have been able to trigger patrols from other camera line crossing events which is a cool feature.

This may be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway. How do line crossing and motion sensing events work with a PTZ? Not surprisingly my NVR shows motion whenever the camera is moving. Is VCA detection only active when the camera is fixed at a preset? Otherwise it would be triggered constantly.

TIA for any help.

Line crossing & Intrusion is setup per preset - up to 4 for each, there is a 1 sec delay between changing between presets and the zone becoming active.

Motion detection is switched off during camera movement and again only becomes active once the camera comes to a stop (about 1 sec delay).

that link is messed up, what about a pendant mount
crap, thanks for letting me know. Just fixed it. No pendant mount unfortunately. If you just need it to stick down further, some of our dealers have used PVC to drop cameras down, then mount the camera to the PVC. Somehow they attach a flat piece to the end of the PVC to mount the camera to. Its all done with material purchased from the PVC section at the hardware store. And it actually looks good!
