I bought a couple of cheap Wanscam HW0026 camera's to use inside to monitor my dog when we are not home, the camera's work flawlessly and the night vision is surprisingly good. Using TinyCam Monitor and Onvif Monitor the stream is perfect. The only issue is when I add them to my Hikvision NVR using ONVIF the stream as viewed in the NVR will work fine for 2-3 days then suddenly will start to flick on and then off, with more off then on, say 5 seconds of video and then off again for a minute and then on again for 5 secs and this repeats until I remove the camera from the config and add it back again and then the process repeats -
2-3 days perfect followed by 5 secs of video every 1-2 minutes. In this time the video via TinyCam or Onvif is uninterrupted so their is nothing wrong with the stream coming from the Camera. Reboots of the camera don't change the outcome. Of course all my Hikvision camera feeds are fine. When I bought them I didn't expect them to work with Hikvision but when they did start to work I got excited so I'm hoping someone might have an idea that could help.

NVR firmware is V3.4.92 Build 170228
ONVIF Device Manager reports the ONVIF version of the camera as 2.04

Maybe try connecting via RTSP with a Custom protocol instead, if you are not needing motion detection, just recording.
The needed RTSP URL is at the bottom of the Live Video page in ODM.

Great suggestion, got them setup and I'll test for a few days and see how we go. Ideally I'd love to put these on a Wifi network connected to one of the PoE ports on the NVR and use its IP range in the hope that they are better protected from the internet and will allow me to view using the streams from the NVR. These cheap chinese camera's have more vulnerabilities then a padlock made of ice.

I'm pretty sure that if you hook up a switch/AP with multiple attached cameras (WiFi or wired) to a Hikvision NVR PoE port you will only be able to connect the NVR to a single camera.
Despite the NVR PoE ports acting as a switch where it forwards traffic between connected devices, I think if there is no link detect (ie nothing plugged in) it considers there is nothing connected even when the unused port is configured with a valid IP address for a camera on the switch/AP.
But it would be interesting to confirm if that's correct.

I have tried it with a ADSL router acting as an access point connected to one of the PoE ports and got three wifi cameras; 2 X Wanscam and one hikvision cube streaming to the nvr so I can confirm it works but then the above problem occurred and I went back to a simpler setup to enable easier testing. Streams are going strong since I changed the setup last night so a couple more days and then I can try turning the setup to using the AP
