I have 10 new IPC-HDW5231R-ZE cameras. I love the cameras except one issue. When I enter the NTP server info and check the NTP server check box and save the configuration the cameras sync the correct time. About 1 min later the time is wrong (off by 1 hour ahead) and when I look in settings in the camera the checked box is no longer checked. It is like it only does the sync once when you save.

Any thoughts?

Thank you,

M

I think it has to do with the DST, I went through the same thing you talk about. I turned off DST, clicked Manual update, in your case sync PC ( I use time.windows.com) same port 123, turned DST back on reset Start Time and End Time. Click Manual Update and it has been fine since.

Thanks I tried that. Really acts weird when I uncheck DST and check NTP and save configuration, it sets time back one hour from correct time and in 1 min or so then changes to correct time.

I asked Andy if he had any ideas.

Thank you

Thanks all Mac OS systems. All Windows machines disappeared mysteriously of our dock !!

Are you saying I need to make a NTP sever in my local network?

I think you had an issue with your DST settings, although I'm not sure that would effect these settings but this is what I use

I also see that some Date&Time settings, including "Date Format", "Time Format", and NTP do not hold after the camera is rebooted. That seems to be persistent in the last 2 firmware versions 2017-11-10 and 2018-03-30.

Are you referring to the weekly auto reboot, or you when a manual reboot is initiated?
I have 6 cams using this firmware, and I've not seen this behavior out of either 2017-11-10 and 2018-03-30.

After a cam is rebooted, whether auto-restart or manual, the Date&Time Format return to a blank field (See attached screenshot). If I recollect correctly, his behavior rather consistent throughout with the 4 models I own SD1A203T-GN, DH-IPC-HDW4231EM-AS, DH-IPC-HDW5231R-Z, DH-IPC-HDW5231R-ZE.

LOL I have fought this issue for years, Its buggy firmware and seems its not getting better, I even have brand new North American NVR's doing DST adjustments when they feel like it. I disable ALL of it, leave the the time zone default, disable DST and sync a PC once every month or so to adjust clocks. For what I do with them its not worth the headache looking at my systems and realizing for what ever reason they are a hour off. I know its suppose to work but it don't. I do not trust the DST function on ANy NVR I have out there.

That is simply not the case. It may be your NVR is screwing with the cameras. I have never had an issue with a dahua camera and dst. There are literally thousands of dahua cam users here and its not a common issue.

Its for sure the NVR's that are screwing with the cams, I should have been more clear

I have a similar issue that you have, but slightly different. On my 2 IPC-HDW5231R-Z cameras I use my local time server (Synology Diskstation) as the NTP server for their time source and also use that same NTP server for other cameras as well. Totally randomly, my 5231 cameras will be exactly 4 hours behind and a reboot will get them resynced. All of the user controls on that page look fine, but something internally gets messed up. All other cameras (HikVision) never have a problem.

It happens so infrequently that I just fix it and don't give it much else thought.

Well after a few days the time is no longer sync to NTP. Cameras are apparently only sync once since when I check the NTP box and save and refresh it sync correctly. If I click on any other tab and come back to time tab it is no longer checked. I asked Andy but he had no idea. I wonder does anyones Dahua cameras retain the NTP Sync setting?

Thank you

I tried the exact setting you have and all the cameras set to the correct time then in one minute they change to time plus one hour. Took out the DST and the time was correct but when I log out then log back in the NPT is not checked. The cameras came with 20170830 but I then tried 201800330. Neither would hold the settings. Not sure what to do next...

try entering a time for dst to start and end, 2am. it may need another value other than midnight.
