I have model DS-7608NI-E2 which has poe ports and internal network. I have 7 cameras using the NVR internal network and I have 2 additional HIKvision cameras plugged into an external poe switch that is on the same network as the NVR and have set both Ip Address to the right network segment (192.168.0.NN).

The NVR sees both cameras but I cannot view them. There is no option to view as on the cameras that are plugged into the inernal ports. If I click the add/delete option I get "no more IP Cameras allowed".

Since I am using the internal network, will I be uable to add cameras that are not using the built in ports?

can you see one of them? That is an 8 Channel nvr, you cannot setup more than 8 cameras.

No I cannot see one. If I access it from my browser at 192.168.0.13, I can log on to it as admin. BTW thanks for clarification that there is an 8 camera limit. I did unplug one of the cameras from the NVR and plug one of these two additional cameras into that port and I could see it ok.

Yes - you can add up to the 8-camera limit, split between the NVR PoE ports and the LAN.
If you want to add a LAN-connected camera, and have an unused NVR PoE port, in the NVR web GUI, Camera Management, select the PoE channel that's not in use, change the mode to Manual instead of Plug&Play, set the IP address to the IP address of the LAN-connected camera, set the ID/password, protocol and port as needed, click OK.
The camera will be added.

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried this but when I complete and try to add, I get an error "No more IP camera allowed'". Port #8 on my NVR is empty however.

How many cameras are currently configured? If it is 8, that's as many as you can configure.
I thought from your post that you had an unused slot, only 7 configured.

Thanks and you are correct. For some reason I add a senior moment and totally forgot that in addition to the camera I am trying to add, I had a Dahua camera on my Lan. I will disconnect this camera and try adding manually again. Thanks for your patience.
