I just installed these cameras. Do they have audio? I know the spec sheet said audio in and out. I have audio enabled in my Dahua GUI but don't hear any sound.

They do have audio. I know at least with mine in Spss or the browser its muted by default and I have to unmute it.

The mic usually has a digital noise filter enabled by default. If you web into the camera and look at the mic area, try turning it off and see how that does.

Hey Guys. Had my first post today after lurking for three+ years! Courtesy of Andy, Santa...I mean DHL brought me a Dahua DB11 doorbell and two IPC-T5442TM-AS cams today.

As a viewer of around three years, I wanted to give back a little bit. We all love screenshots, so heres a comparison shot between my Dahua 5231R-Z, the first Gen Starlight, the new 4MP Starlight+, and my iPhone7 for comparison. The Starlight+ and iPhone shots are a few minutes apart, the original Starlight shot was a snip from Blueiris from another night. The same lights were on in all the shots. There are a total of 5 Lights on in these shots, each of those lights having two 40W equivalent LED bulbs. The lamp post at top center, the two lights on the house garage on right, and the two lights on the detached garage the cam is mounted to that are not in view. WDR Backlight is enabled, and both cams are set to auto.

Very impressed

Using the camera as a skycam to do timelapse. It has the 2.8mm lens. Night time shots are pretty good ,it can see stars that I can't!
Looking to do a lens swap to 2.1mm. Took it apart and noticed it is not a M12 threaded lens. Anyone have any information on the lens standard this camera is using.

Here is a day and night shot with the 2.8mm lens.

Does anyone have any details about the new sensor so I can research some of the technical specs and differences to the previous Sony Starvis? It's quite impressive to claim a 2x resolution increase and x3 low light sensitivity.
I believe it's probably a Sony IMX 571.

Smart IR issues update.
Dahua engineer will send us a firmware for fixing before Oct.1st. Let's see how it's going, thanks for all guys support for helping on this issue, really annoying;)
Not to sound too pushy for a newbie, but has there been any update to this? I've been browsing the forum for months now trying to figure out what cams I want/need(wow are there a lot and I'm confused!) and this one has piqued my interest but the issue with Smart IR is one thing I'm concerned about and would like to work properly before purchase. Has anyone been able to get this new firmware and test it to see if it works?

Also, do they make a varifocal version of this camera?

We are still waiting on the SmartIR fix, however to be clear, the IR washout is not a problem past about 12ft. and if you have enough light like I do, you dont need to go to B&W/IR anyway.

Ok, so if I understand you correctly, at distances greater than 12 feet the IR washout isn't an issue, until they hopefully fix it? Problem is, is that I'm thinking of putting one under my porch overhang and it would be by a door, I have a motion sensing porch light which might kick the camera into color, but not sure. And thanks for the VF version, I would more than likely be going with a few of those.

Well to be precise, somewhere between 12-15ft. The expansion joint in the clip below is exactly 12ft.

(set youtube player to 1440 0r 2160 if it allows)

Ok, not to sound dumb, but I went to that link and I don't see any VF turret cams like this. Was it a bullet style that is?
That's right, it would be a bullet style, IPC-B5442E-ZE or IPC-B5442E-Z4E. The latter has a longer-range 8mm-32mm lens. I'm thinking about some too, but sort of waiting for the SmartIR fix.
