Just to summarize my needs. I completely understand, that dome cameras out in the open, is a no no. I'm trying to install it under a fully covered porch, just a bit inward from the elements. It won't be hit directly by the sunlight.
This way it is still a no go?
Please do no argue. It is not nice.

Thanks mat200. I appreciate your opinion and insight.

I am not and have not disagreed with the facts. In my opinion people that provide only one option and sell that as the only way are ignoring different end user requirements. I didn't see you asking thoughtful, purposeful questions about the end user's requirements or environment.

You and I have a different style. Lets leave well enough alone and move on. Thanks again for your insight and experience. I look forward to learning from you!
Hi @The_E

Look, a LOT of us put in a significant amount of work volunteering to share information here. I'm not going to rehash everything each and every time it is asked on a thread, especially with members who have already read a lot of what we have already been sharing as @tibimakai has.

While I have not referenced it in some time, you and others are welcome to go over my notes which I posted here:
Looking for some advice and direction!
( a lot of that knowledge has already been included in the cliff notes - thus referencing the cliff notes covers much of what is listed there.. )

Hi Tibimakai,

My Dahua OEM 2MP starlight mini-dome is doing good in a similar setup so far, and as long as I keep it in color mode ( with the porch light on ) even if the "gasket" around the lens starts to fail it will not be an issue.

I only really need to worry about the dome decaying, and since it is a covered position most of the time it should last long enough before I need to replace it.

The domes I have at work exposed to the sun and elements did not last very long.
