Hi CPU usage after latest update

In the upper left corner of BI click the arrow graph.

then
StatusBar.jpg
click cameras tab and thane a screen shot of the whole frame
Click Clip storage tab and take a screen shot of the whole frame

I went ahead and restarted the machine with HA turned off.

I've been playing around with the clips and archiving setting. Right now, I have the alerts going into a 1TB M.2 SSD (a separate drive from what windows/BI is on). I currently have it set for 3 days then moved over to the M drive in the "Stored" folder.

You still have three cameras set to hardware acceleration, the # hash tag.

Are you continuously recording.
Are both The F and M drive internal to the PC ?
Are you configured for motion detection in BI ?

Recommendation: Email the event log error screen shots to BI support, include the detail information.

for now I would reduce FPS in each camera to 15 and set the Iframe to 15 also. This is just temporary until we figure out what is going on. This is done in the camera. (Not in BI)
What video compression are you using in the camera?
Is smart codec turned on or off in the cameras. It should be off. It is normally on the video tab in the camera setting (Not in BI)

Also a screen shot from one of your cameras, the camera record tab and the video file format and compression.

Okay, I switched all the cameras over to No for HA. The three with the # were set to default. In the main Blue Iris Settings -> Cameras I have "No" for HA. The camera in red, I don't have mounted yet. I just set it up in BI and I'm running the ethernet cable today planning on mounting it sometime this week (weather permitting).

I'm only recording motion/alerts, not continuous. Both F and M are in the PC. I'm using H.264. Smart codec is turned off on every camera. I'll email support with the event log error.

I really appreciate you taking the time to walk me through this.

Not a problem. I am upgrading a number of PCs today from old winds 7 to windows 10. It is slow going as I have to change out some unsupported hardware.

Also a screen shot from one of your cameras, the camera record tab and the video file format and compression.

After that lets let it run and see if the problem pops up again. May be KEN at BI will see something in the error to give you a lead into the problem.

All of my Hikvision cams are set up like this with H.264+ off and 20FPS. The couple that aren't are not as configurable. They just have H.264 set.

I think I may have figured it out. (special thanks to Southern Yankee). I don't think I had allotted enough storage space and it was bumping up against what I had. I had been playing around with the storage settings and think I finally got it right. CPU usage has been around 20% for the last few days where as before it would climb to 100%.

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. It just spiked up to 100% and crashed again.

I emailed support with my errors, etc. We'll see what they say.

I received an email back from Ken (within an hour or so...pretty awesome). Unfortunately, his only suggestions were to check all Security Software Exemptions, update Nvidia drivers, and check to see if Intel drivers are possible causing a memory leak. I went ahead and disabled all windows network defender settings and I'm not using anything Nvidia.

Unfortunately, nothing has helped. and oddly enough, it seems like it maxes out CPU percentage even quicker after I dropped frame rate and iframe down to 15. I also dropped "Limit Live Preview Rate" down to 6 fps. I'm still getting errors and it's maxing out the CPU.

As you can imagine, I'm frustrated. I'm starting to look at ditching this and just going with an NVR setup.

Another odd thing that I noticed was that the "Max. rate" for each camera had changed. I went into each camera's settings and set the fps and iframe to 15. I also set 15 in BI's Max rate, yet it will change iteself to some random number on about half my cameras.

For troubleshooting sake... un-power & disable all but 1 camera. See what happens with results on CPU use.
(I thought true FPS was controlled by the camera configuration itself. All my cameras are individually set to 15 FPS along with Blue Iris setting 15 FPS). ** ignore this. I see you did set cameras individually **
This is where I'm no computer expert. Are your camera's on their own subnet? What brand are they? Wonder if camera woes may cause Blue Iris to increase CPU. I know when I went from SATA to NAS storage, and went from 8mb to 16mb memory...my CPU dropped 10-20%. However, when a clip is sent to "stored" folder, the CPU does jump back up 10-20% to accomplish the move.
My bet? Something to do with your HD space, storage, etc.
Take screen shot of your Task Manager / Performance tab when this CPU gets up high again.

Okay, I disabled every camera but one. CPU usage dropped down to below 15%. It stays like that for a minute or two then everything drops to 0% (CPU and RAM) then the system crashes.

Now I can't even get the GUI to open. I'll probably re-install BI again. (I believe my license for BI4 is still good, I may go that route).

The cameras and Blue Iris machine are on their own subnet. 7 of the cameras are Hikvision. Two are Lorex with limited adjustability.

I have my Windows 10 machine set up to record directly to a 1TB M.2 SATA drive. I have that adjusted to record for 5 days or 800Gb then move over to two 4TB WD Purple drives. Everything in on this machine.

I wouldn't go the NVR route. This issue you are experiencing is rare. Once you figure it out, you'll be happy with your current setup.
Your first screen capture with 1 camera...I notice the red up arrow, up top (storage icon?). Even with 1 camera recording? hmm....strange?
