I flashed back to hikvision firmware like before and onvif is working but still synology will not allow me to set the motion detection area. It will say activating or just be a black screen.

I was able to edit the motion detection area in batch config tool. Do you know if it actually uses that motion area? Synology has an option to set use camera for motion detection.

Went ahead and did an update on synology to DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 6 the latest available. I figured that might help with the live view/motion detection area for the Ezviz DB1 and its the same. Very odd. I know this has to do with resolution somehow.

The lockdown is getting me mad, I'm bored, so I said: let's try something different. ;)

Yes, I used the same auth code of the first replaced cam. I guess, when you replace it, they do it also at their cloud level. But it's just a guess.

One more thing you might add to 101:
  • Alexa is working fine with Hikvision firmware, I kept using EZVIZ skill, without changing anything, since they use the same cloud. You can flag yes in the 101 fw table.
  • in your fw table of the 101 there's an incorrect version for Hikvision: last firmware is v5.2.4 build 200321 (March 21, 2020), see screenshot attached.

So now, with Hikvision fw on the DB1 I have ONVIF working on the synology, SAGE sensor working and Alexa working too. I guess I found my new configuration.

Happy guy. :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Wow I am getting dyslectic in my older age. I even went back to someone who originally told me about the new version and I got the numbers backwards. Thank you for that catch, corrected the 101.

It is great that the EZVIZ Alexa Skill works on your DB1 with the Hikvision firmware. But the big question is; Does Alexa work on a Hikvision DB with the EZVIZ skill?
@Pilot04 did some testing on this with his RCA DB and even though the LaView firmware was loaded on his RCA, the LaView Alexa Skill did not work. If I remember right he also tried the EZVIZ firmware and EZVIZ Skill, same thing. So this sounds crazy, but we linked it to hardware not the firmware in that if you own a LaView or EZVIZ DB, the Alexa Skills work because each company must have a way to check their serial numbers of their DBs.
We even both tried this with Google; we both linked our LaView and RCA DBs to Google and loaded EZVIZ firmware (Which EZVIZ DB works on Alexa and Google) hoping to get Google to work and neither of our DBs worked. So i will send a message out to Hikvision DB owners to see if any had success in natively getting Alexa or Google to work.

Thank You for all your input and help, so glad we did not lose you to a bricked DB...I am with pete_c, never liked updating firmware via WiFi, but yet all my IoT devices do it now a days, it really is up to how a reset can recover a device.

ATTENTION :)

Calling all Hikvision DS-HD1 Doorbell owners!!!

We need help identifying if Alexa Skills (Either EZVIZ or LaView or even RCA Skills) work on your DB, since there is no Hikvision Alexa Skill. So if you have any Alexa device, Echo, Echo Show, Fire Tablet, etc. that you can test this on, we very much appreciate it. This test is a native test, DB to Alexa device, not going through Monocle or any other gateway. Also, please let us know which firmware you have loaded on your DS-HD1.

Feel free to share if you have Google working too. We are only aware of EZVIZ/Google Link in which Google Does work on EZVIZ DB1 DBs.

Hello everyone and thank you for all the knowledge sharing. I recently installed a new transformer and my RCA doorbell is finally working. I see there was a firmware upgrade and I’ve tried to do it for a couple days now. It says complete but when I reload the app it says to upgrade again. Has anyone run into this?

thanks all

I would suggest installing Batch Config Tool or iVMS-4200 and see what firmware version your Doorbell is actually on. You could even try another App, I am assuming you are using RCA's App.

This is from our Doorbell 101:

CONFIGURING DOORBELL TIPS:
⦁ Software (Windows) used to configure Doorbell include: iVMS-4200 (I personally like version 2 legacy), Batch Configuration Tool (BC Tool 101 Help).
iVMS-4200 for MAC, Batch Configuration Tool for MAC
(NOTE: In the Batch Config. Tool, If your Doorbell shows Offline hit Refresh to bring it Online, Sometimes in iVMS-4200 the CCD section does not show up.)
⦁ Other useful Hikvision Tools.
⦁ Frame Rate: (FPS); the default is 15, to change to Full Frame (30FPS) in iVMS-4200 or Batch Config. Tool under Remote Configuration/Image/Video & Audio - JoshJ
⦁ Using iVMS-4200 or Batch Config. Tool in the Remote Configuration/CCD section you will be able to turn WDR On/Off, change brightness, contrast, etc.
⦁ Available Apps (Allows Remote Access):
iO/S: Hik-Connect, RCA Security, EZVIZ, LaView One, Guarding Vision
Android: Hik-Connect, RCA Security, EZVIZ, LaView ONE, Guarding Vision
⦁ In App be sure and change Hi-Def to Ultra HD

Thank you I oversaw this part with batch tool. It appears the batch tool confirms I’m on the old version. I will play with this some more to see if I can figure that out. Thanks =)

Just be sure you have a solid WiFi connection to your DB when upgrading firmware. You don't want any disconnects during it's process...

thanks guys. Was able to upgrade from the batch config successfully. I plugged my WiFi range extender in five feet from the doorbell to be safe!
Smart move...Congrats...Enjoy this DB, we all are...With the Batch Tool, you will be able to play with brightness, contrast, WDR, etc. If you haven't already, go through our 101 on improvement tips, Res., Frame Rate, etc. Also try a RTSP stream to VLC on your PC. I like being able to have a window open while on my PC to monitor our front door.

I hear ya. Unfortunately my view from my door isn’t very glamorous. Haha. That is cool though.

Hey, nor is ours:

But one of the great things about this DB is it's instant motion alerts, less than a second most of the time and never more than 2. It is far from perfect but much, much better than other Smart Doorbells out there.

Enjoy...

Agreed. So far really happy with its performance BI is kinda hit or miss. Sometimes the stream dies but the RCA app has been full proof. Very happy

Hey y'all. I just got ezviz db1 and install went smoothly. Updated to latest firmware via app.

Issue I'm having is the original chime is not working? Everything else is working though. Did not work on old and latest firmware.

I did not use the fuse included. Should I have?

A few weeks ago I had announced that I wanted to design a 3D printed housing for my doorbell, because my door reveal is very narrow and the angle of view of the camera in that mounting position is more than unfortunate.

Here is the final result of my 90° adapter. Printed in PETG, smoothed, sanded and varnished. In the lower part I have constructed our name in raised letters.

I think I can live with it very well - even if my wife finds the case too bulky.

ok, so regarding my mechanical chime not working, i unplugged the power kit from the harness jumper wires at the chime
THEN IT WORKED!?

so i guess i can remove the jumper wires

anyone else have fortunate situation like this? Everything works fine so far. no cutting out of power or chime sounding weird.

It actually worked fine WITH the power kit installed too but mechanical chime wouldnt work. If you press the button you could see the mechanical cylinder move a little bit but not enough to engage the chime. Then again once I removed the powerkit, everything worked fine?

Has anyone experienced this? This is a BRAND NEW house just built NOW in 2020. in the chime there were 2 separate wire jackets with 2 wires each (1 red wire and 1 white wire) The white wires capped together, then each red wires, one at trans and 1 in front on the cime.

just adding this in case someone has a similar issue in the future and can use this as reference is their case seems similar to mine. Try to simply install it without the power kit

ARGH, after a while it stopped working fine lol. and the chime started to have a low buzzing noise when you listened closely and stopped working and doorbell started malfunctioning.

so it looks like i do need the powerkit. It worked for a few minutes after i removed the powerkit like i said, but maybe it was just "ramping down"

the transformer is C905 Transformer 16v 10VA

i guess its off to home depot tomorrow
