I don.t think many forum member have this camera model but if you have the latest firmware for the SD49225xa-hnr please post that firmware as a lot of forum members would appreciate this.

They are using the same fw, but after update, the autotracking will lose. I checked with dahua engineer, they 312 fw will be the only autotracking FW for 49225XA, 49425xb

having never owned a PTZ before...I am contemplating this SD5A425 or the SD49225XA.
I know lighting is important between 4mp vs 2mp for 3am shots.
How would either of the two PTZ camera's handle images from the pic below? I have not looked too deeply into PTZ installations yet, what is the recommended height of a PTZ? I have some of my 5442's at the 6' height to catch faces.
I am pretty sure if the SD5A425 4MP camera follows my 4mp 5442's, full color mode in this lighting environment would be possible.

PTZs tend to be installed higher as they have a longer range, so 200-300 feet out (or farther - I can clearly make out strangers at double-triple that during the day), the difference in height (provided it is like 10-20 feet high) is not a big difference. I would expect the performance to be similar between the 5442 you have and this PTZ for the same closer up areas you have - once you get some distance on it, it might struggle - but it appears you have light out in the distance, so you probably could go with the better PTZ.

I'm testing this FW over the holidays and will report back. I saw some concerning things in which could mean functions have been adjusted WRT ANPR options but will test and hold judgement until complete. I'm hoping that the feedback I gave and the adjustments to code that were needed to improve ANPR have been incorporated rather than things being taken out. More soon

Feel free to reach out to me with your current 5442 settings and I can comment back. Although the lighting from your screen grab looks ok that depends on what your exposure settings look like to get that image vs 'real' light. Also remember you are using a fixed lens cam there (in screenshot at least) and PTZ's will use a vari so you will see an f stop range of 1.6 to 4.0 on the 5A425 vs constant 1.6 on the fixed 5442. Also as @wittaj mentioned you would absolutely want to install the PTZ higher, I advise in the 12' to 20' range all depending on your location, required FOV, security needs etc. HTH

I have question to owners of SD5A425XA-HNR:

How much this PTZ is visible to people? Camera and the direction (optics) to which is directed?

I'm interested in installing it on my house at 5m height, which is located about 3-4 meters from low fence and public side walk/street.

Can someone put pictures how much is visible direction of optics in this PTZ in distances like 5 meters?

Best to post a picture of what you intend to use it for .

I want to install SD5A425XA-HNR in X spot. 5 meters hight, 3-4 meters from from low fence and public side walk/street.

How much this PTZ will be visible to people on side walk?

Is direction of optics visible from that height?

PS. Is there any other PTZ with AI and auto track which are less recognizable as PTZ (I don't have problems with installing more normals IPCs, but very recognizable PTZ can be a problem for neighbors or police)...

IMHO you would see the optics ( Front Lens ) from that height but with that particular camera having and all black face it would make it harder to see.

I agree - you would definitely see it, but the design of the actual PTZ part would make it harder for people to see it following them. But people are also oblivious and most do not notice mine.

I don't have problems with installing more cameras, but very recognizable PTZ can be a problem for neighbors or police (EU privacy law)...

There are a few dome type PTZs but are not as powerful as this one.

Can You put some pictures how exactly this PTZ looks outside from 5 meters?

All pictures on Dahua site are renders, I don't known how glossy the chassis is and how much chassis different from optics in distances like 5 meters?
