Why not use a VPN for remote access? That would let your phone look like it's on your local network and add security to the connection.

Yes that is what I'm researching something like Firewalla: Cybersecurity Firewall For Your Family and Business which is a one time price unit that installs on your router and sets up a VPN. Would act just like you are home and use the same Qsee apps. Also looking at other routes to look at setting up a VPN. I never knew that P2P was not that secure after reading through information here. But still open to other ideas. I did wonder if Dahua software could just be installed on the Q-See NVR. But I'm not ready to be the guinea pig and brick my qc826 nvr. Keep the ideas coming!

It would probably be cheaper to buy an ASUS router with OpenVPN already on it. It is the go to router and VPN for most here and we can help you with any setup issues. Whatever you do, do not pay for a VPN service as that is not the VPN you need.

Mine is QC918B. Bought it from costco a couple years ago. I dont even know if that was made by Dahua.

Well I just found out about the remote viewing app being shut down....and I'm not pleased. As a firefighter who works 4 day shifts i need the remote viewing on my house for safety and security. I am no Techie and the discussion here is above my head. I know Alex and
avspin Young grasshopper, have an astute knowledge of the problem and some remedy. QC826 4K NVR appears to be a Dahua OEM NVR... possible NVR5216-16P-4Kxx ( xx = something.. ) as the backside of it looks similar to the NVR I have. Of course you will need to double check.

Hello All,
This post is about to generate 1000's of views. Many people are about to find out their Q-See systems will stop P2P sharing and will not be able to remote view because the vendor is going out of business tomorrow. Q-See has recommended to use remote access via DMZ and enable DHCP. Basically, turning off your router’s firewall and allowing an outside connection directly to your NVR. (directions found on their web site). However, everything I’ve read about it states this could open your network up to hacker attacks. I want to use this as a brain storming area and pick people’s knowledge. (Maybe port forwarding and how to do it). Please reframe from “you shouldn’t have bought Q-See in the first place (Yes Yes I know).

Option 1: Do the DMZ and risk it.

Option 2: So from what I have gather is that many of their systems were made by Dahua and should be easy to buy a Dahua NVR of similar specs and use their software and their web/phone apps to remote view. (Onvif compliant) For the most part plug and go.

Option 3: Buy or build a windows based computer/server for use as a NVR and buy a POE switch and install Blue Iris software to manage it. (most likely the most powerful and best way to achieve best recording) But uses more power than a standalone NVR?

For me I’m running a QC826 16 channel NVR (total record data max of 320MBPS) (4 full resolution channels and the rest up to 1080P) I have 3 different PTZ cameras and many 4K camera’s IP cameras and wireless cameras. Some direct connect and others running through google mesh system. I installed it myself and self-taught through trial and error. I’m looking at two different Dahua NVR models :

I guess people will want to know about cost factor. It will depend on what others have already and what they want to do. I’m leaning toward a new/used Dahua NVR ($300 to $600) using the existing two hard drives in my current NVR. But if you have a computer you can convert, Blue Iris may work better.

Just to be clear all Q-see’s NVR's will still keep recording to the NVR and will be unaffected. Just remote viewing will be affected. Sorry for my typo’s just wanted to get this out and going

Yes it seems to be the Dahua NVR5216-16P-4KS2E. But I'm watching YouTube videos and reading about setting up a VPN. Looking at getting an Azus router. I will post more after testing out the setup. Hopefully a pdf with instructions. It allows me to keep my NVR and just set up a path to my NVR while I'm away. But if people are comfortable with P2P then that would be the way to go. Looking at screen shots of Dahua software, it looks just Q-See software.

I have a qc8816 NVR that I used when I had my IP cameras and it also allowed me to view my Wi-Fi cameras. My qsee-plus app stopped working with them and I have six worthless cameras unless I can find a work around. Please help me out if you know what to do.

It seems the QC Plus app was heavily affected and seems less work arounds. I see lots of error messages like "failed to refresh 10005". On my home network the cameras load up for a few seconds and then stop (just on the qc plus app). But I have those set up to my NVR and I can use the QC-view app just fine using the method mentioned above about putting in the NVR's IP address in the QC-View app. But only on my home network. Hang in there more people will find this forum and hopefully be able to help a little more. But the problem is Qsee had so many different systems and different OEM vendors that there is not going to be a easy button to fix it all.

Yes what model cameras and NVR do you have? My older NVR had a problem with the wifi cameras. I found older NVRs do not support H265 file recording and when I changed the recording to H264 the video showed up. But let me know your models. I own almost all QC models cameras. Also the wifi camera almost always have a password you have to put in.

I have QC888 NVR and QCW2MPSL beacon wifi camera. I reset the camera thinking the issue is with wifi, so I thought the password is back to the factory default (admin), but neither that nor the one I set up in the Q-See Plus app being recognized.

The Q-See app is gone so you need another. Try DMSS, Tiny cam or just search for an camera viewing app. NOTE: you will not be able to remote view, read the thread.
What the app will do is allow you to see your cameras on your phone or ipad. But only at your home on your own network.
