Which ones specifically? Axis develops its own software, firmware, and even chip designs in Sweden. Axis own chips (ARTPEC) are manufactured in Taiwan and the cameras are manufactured most often in Thailand or Mexico.

To be clear, I agree with IPCamTalk members that Axis is not a fit for DIY or home use but I don't see the accuracy or basis of your conspiracy theory that Axis cameras "are made in China".

I recently got an Axis P3245-LVE and the packaging says "Country of Origin: Mexico, Packaged in USA, Engineered in Sweden"

FWIW, Axis is subsidiary of Canon, the camera company.

You may (emphasis on may) mean well, but your delivery SUCKS. Condescension reeks from your pores.

Again I should confess ignorance over whatever may have transpired in the many pages of exchange here in IPC, but what I found here is a group of people who; (a) want to protect their person, property and neighborhood, (b) want to utilize the most cost-effective and capable tools possible, and (c) are willing to share their experience with others. There are members here who make their living selling and installing security systems for homes, businesses, and institutions. It is remarkable they come here willing to share their experience with we untermunchen DIY's.

For my part I am entirely 100% brand agnostic, and I suspect the same is true for many/most members here. If Axis (or Bosch or Sony) provided the same balance of capability, performance and price, I am sure it would be accepted as fit for use by we lowly DIYs.

Look, I get it that you are concerned about security issues posed by these cameras. Just today I was reading a report from a person who scrubbed the Synology Terms of Service and found it unacceptable for reasons of the CCP's 'backdoor' into Chinese companies activities. More than most here, I am supremely sensitive to the CCP influence. OPSEC and PERSEC are not mere acronyms for me and my family. Yet, by your own admission the same preventative measures taken to blunt security threats posed by Dahua and Hikvision should also be applied to Axis and Bosch. Your treatment of the threats and their prevention is far from even-handed. And your condescension and arrogance is a bit tough to take, hence, my comments.

@icpilotI You brought up Axis to this conversation, you were condescending ("this is what john dont tell you"), I responded with facts then asked you to substantiate your allegation. Instead of substantiating your claim, you wrote multiple paragraphs complaining about the tone of my response. Can you substantiate your claim that Axis is made in China? You choose to introduce this allegation.

Something I learned a long time ago is when someone reacts out of proportion to a stimulus, it indicates a much deeper issue.

Yes, I wrote about my reaction to your arrogance and condescension. I find it difficult to take and not respond.

No, it was not me who brought Axis into the exchange. Had you bothered to READ the exchange before reacting you might have noticed that.

This Bill i watched days ago, right now no real effect on the currently models. Dahua and hikvision is working on it with lawers, i think will have some solutions.
Monday Joe and Xi will make a video meeting, maybe will do some deals. Company/brand come big is a problem, will be a target.
dahua or hikvision get those certificate 1-2 years before the real new product release. So at least 2-3 years, no real problems.
Right now Politicians need China, a good tool to disperse US own issues, this is same everywhere.
God damn, 99.9% people never know where is XJ at, lol.

Thrive regardless and there’s nothing stopping that

China is the factory of the world, this will not change in the later 10-15 years and there is a huge demand for chips. If American companies do not chase this market, European and Asian companies will squeeze American companies out. And American companies can't find an alternative market. The final result is that American companies' revenues are lower, profits are falling, companies invest less in research and development, layoffs, and companies lose. So that is why every country want to protect Taiwan now. China not really will make a war on TW, why ? China earn 500-600 billions USD from USA and buy 180billions USD chips from TW in 2021z And Taiwan use the money to buy weapons and tech from US. Lol

Just go to a public toilet , damn US tech again. US standard, very clean.
Ex-Huawei’s brand Honor now have a very huge new office again, 6 buildings with 40 floors. It’s living again, chips going on supply to them now.

Today talk too much political, time go to do some sport. Anyway , I respect US people’s choice.

And lets ban all that stuff BEFORE there is a working plan in place to replace what was banned...pretty much how the current WH Admin closed pipelines and decimated 40K related jobs BEFORE there was a WORKING plan in place to build and maintain EV's, EV batteries and EV battery charging stations, let alone allow the 40K displaced workers attempt to re-train and maybe someday work in a EV-related industry! They were so Hell-bent against using fossil fuels they literally "threw the baby out with the bath water" !!!!
Sorry about the political-related post but that is exactly what happened, IMO.
