Unable to get Bosch NDN-50022-A3 IP camera to connect to BI4

I have 14 Bosch NDN-50022-A3 IP cameras that I have upgraded the firmware on. Blue Iris is unable to stay connected for more than 1 frame, then it says no signal. I have contacted Bosch support and they advised to upgrade the firmware, which I have done. I have tried every setting under the Bosch selection with no success. When I click find/inspect it just thinks it's a generic rtsp camera and won't stay connected.

Have you tried "Bosch" in the dropdown and "RSTP/HTTP"? With that combo the path is shortened to "/rtsp_tunnel".

I'm thinking the rest of that path you have now may be stipulating an unavailable stream, profile or resolution.

I am able to get the camera to work in tinycam for Android which gave me the following link that I then successfully tested inside VLC Media Player. But Blue Iris still refuses to play the stream.
(Just as a note, IP address .148 was a different camera, I'm currently using a camera with IP address .150)

Can you tell me if you were ever able to get your Bosch cameras to work with Blue Iris? I have 2 Bosch VG5-7130 7000HD cameras for outdoor use and can't even tell you disappointed I am to find that neither of them will work with Blue Iris thus far. It seems to go through the BI camera configurator just fine with no errors (no BAD RESPONSE as you were getting) but there is still "No Signal" after I SAVE and CLOSE the setup. The surprising thing is that I was actually able to get my Synology NAS unit to immediately see and setup the Bosch camera through its freebie surveillance package. For setup I simply chose "Bosch", gave it the IP and camera password and it just worked.

Please tell me if you were able to solve this very disappointing outcome. In the mean time have a Happy New Year ahead.

Specs state that it's ONVIF compliant; you may have to log into the cam's webGUI and enable ONVIF and/or create a new or another user under ONVIF.
If that is accomplished, consider installing the free ODM.
Run ODM, login with cam's username and password.
Select the cam on the left when it finds it.

Down at the bottom right the RTSP URL should appear.

Thanks so much for replying to my situation. I just tried ODM but it does not show the Bosch camera in left column, with or without name/password. All of my other cams are there. I am still amazed that my NAS surveillance freebie app managed to support it right away. I wonder why ODM can't see it. I did confirm that Onvif is 'checked' in the camera's setup. By the way: I just found this shown in the Bosch info for this camera:

I finally sifted through all 4 choices within the Stream Profiles drop-down and when I chose the last one: 'JPEG_L153' I actually got a stream for the first time. The quality is not good though and it looks a little washed out so this will not be a good choice.

disable hardware acceleration in blue iris for that specific camera. Try again using find inspect or the url in the post above.

Just an FYI...
Private LAN IP's such as your cam's 192.168.XXX.XXX do not need to be redacted like your WAN / public IP's do.
My Blue Iris server's LAN IP is 192.168.1.239, FWIW.

I'm so used to redacting these and other numbers when I help other people online that I just wasn't thinking... and it's been a loooong day Still can't get BI to work with the Bosch cams. I looked into Fenderman's suggestion above and found that my hardware acceleration was already turned off for that camera. Happy New Year!

I'm so used to redacting these and other numbers when I help other people online that I just wasn't thinking... and it's been a loooong day Still can't get BI to work with the Bosch cams. Since you said in post #4 that it works in VLC, have you tried the drop-down of "Model" of "VLC-compatible RTSP" under the "Make" of "Generic / ONVIF" ?

I was finally able to get BI to stream an H264 signal from from this Bosch 7000HD camera. See image below for my setup. I ran the Find/inspect tool applying the camera's USER name & Password, not the SERVICE name and password, otherwise it would not work. The choice that seemed to ultimately make the difference was once I checked the box for 'Use RTP/UDP ports'. I saw something in the Bosch's camera specs for 'UDP 514' so that is what I entered. After I SAVED and reopened the camera's setup page I noticed that my entry of 514 had changed itself to 512. I guess it likes that number better. Obviously I know know about these things. I do have an option in the cameras'a setup to choose between UDP, TCP or TLS. It was set by default to UDP (?) It's still far from perfect. While I can view the camera's stream and actuate the PTZ functions in BI the recording is buggy at best. For example; If I have it set to record on motion (with all of the same settings as my other cameras) the actual recording will not begin until a minute or more after the trigger. I have not been able to figure out why. Also, If I try to add a second stream (as I do with all of my other cameras to save CPU usage) neither stream will work, no signal. The other real problem with this camera is that it records H264 at 50 or 60 FPS. Nothing slower from what I have been able to determine. Only the Jpeg stream provides choices for lower FPS. Go figure. All of my other cameras are set to record at 10-15 FPS so this is not good, although at just 720P it's not the end of the world.

The intelligent tracking on this camera is simply amazing. My best Hik tracking cameras lock on all the wrong things when a person or car pass the 'wrong' object. This camera will follow an object through a jungle of distractions and this is why I am determined to make it work. I can get it to work on my Androids, PC & Mac browsers, VLC, Synology NAS but not Blue Iris... not yet. If anyone is as determined as I am (but infinitely more knowledgable) I can share more data, like the camera specs from Bosch or anything else. Fenderman was good enough to ask me to contact support which I did. If anyone can figure it out it would be him.

Late start to recording is generally caused by long iframe intervals or the use of a smart codec. Set the iframe interval to match the frame rate. Also choose the simple algorithm in the motion detection settings.

I did have the I-frames set to 50 which matches the cameras lowest available FPS but your suggestion to choose the simple algorithm made a huge difference. The red alerts popped right up on my handheld device as I entered the room to test motion recording. I still have a yellow exclamation point and notice that when one of my cameras is showing this icon the camera will usually have some idiosyncrasies going on. In my case I do notice after this recording takes place and everything times per my settings the camera will appear to freeze on the device screen for a minute of so but will eventually come back to life. Not sure if this is related to the yellow exclamation icon. We are getting very close now. Please know that I am very grateful for your help, especially today.

Yes if you are recording at 50 fps, you would not be able to set the iframe lower. The iframe settings are in the camera not blue iris. The screenshot you posted on affects the webserver. You simply need to match them. Lower your minimum duration to 0.7. Check the status page to determine what the yellow exclamation point is telling you.

The camera is now set to an I-frame rate of 50 (it was still at 30) and duration to 0.7. The only yellow exclamation points I see in the Log seem to be related to a BI software update reminder and Blue Iris support having expired. The software may need an update. Regarding tech support; I was under the impression that I was being charged annually automatically. I will attach a screen shot of the Log report just incase you're willing to give it a scan. I have attached a shot showing the yellow exclamation points near the Main Stream area of General camera window just incase the location of this says some about what the error may be. Not sure how this works. Things are looking pretty good after your advice. Just that Yellow Exclamation point that I'm still not sure about.

The yellow exclamation mark has nothing to do with the software update or being expired.

You get that because the KEY is less than 0.30, which is problematic for BI motion detection.

As this shows, your KEY is 0.20 which means that in the camera, the iframes is 250 with a FPS of 50 FPS. BI will miss motion a lot. A KEY of 0.2 means that anything in and out of your field of view within 5 seconds can be missed completely.



As mentioned above, you have to set the iframe rate in the camera GUI, not in BI. Where you set it has zero impact on what the camera sends - you simply told BI to accept it up to that amount.

You are not being billed annually. That is why your screenshot indicates expired. If you continue to have issues, particularly with a camera like bosch that is not popular, it would be best to contact support so the developer can access the cam and troubleshoot.
