Onvif Compatible Doorbell Cam

Here is what Im looking for

• ONVIF compatible
• Cost under 1000 usd
• Not made by some trendy startup company that may or may not exist next year
• POE
• Does not rely on cloud services to function

Not required but would be nice is SIP two way audio

Maybe Im asking to much and just need to install a separate pinhole camera and than a sip intercom

I don't think Ring passes the "Trendy Startup" and "Does not rely on Cloud" criteria.

I think Dahua and Hikvision are missing out on some sales not having something like this.

Agreed, I have to two customers who would buy tomorrow. I looked at ring.com and they do not publish many specs so I called them and they were not very knowledgeable but did confirm there is no way to connect to the cameras video stream via onvif. This axis model seems nice http://www.axis.com/us/en/press-center/press-release/3854 I just wish the cost was about 25 percent less.

I had no idea about the non cloud part on RING, I wouldn't consider it either for that reason alone.

Have you looked at doorbird? I know know if they pass your startup test, but the camera supports ONVIF, can be powered by mains or POE, supports communication over ethernet or 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, SIP/VoIP, has a relay to control an electronic door strike, and has an android and iOS app for communication
It's avilable in a number of different configurations, from a $349 plastic housed "doorbell" style up to a $1,000 stainless-steel high security fence-installation model

If you dont like plastic, then pay $570 for a stainless model. The features are the same for all form factors. Compared to the $1,200 AXIS A8004-VE that the OP linked to, this one is a steal.

Dude, I don't know what your problem is. I stumbled on this post looking for info on whether The Ring supports ONVIF (it doesn't) and thought that OP might want to know about something that actually meets his criteria. Where did you even come from? You weren't participating in this convo at all until you decided to jump down my throat. Sorry if you're having a bad day - go take it out on someone else.

Your link doesn't work, by the way so I took the liberty of finding specs elsewhere. The DHI-VTO2111D-WP looks nifty, but the very limited specs from Dahua don't say anything about ONVIF or POE, not to mention I can find no pricing info, no one seems to be selling it (I presume OP want's something he can actually buy) and its *gasp* made of plastic.

*edit* i see it does support POE, but 802.3af means active POE, so no passive POE injectors

Maybe you could consider that just because you have a strong opinion about something, it doesn't mean that others don't have their own priorities and preferences. I would use a passive POE injector because it does what I need at a reasonable price, is that not a good enough reason? I did take a moment (regrettably) to look over some of your replies in other threads and I can see that this just seems to be your standard tone; I can see that no matter what I say, it will only be an excuse for you to come back with some snarky reply, so I'll leave you to your opinions.

I have no affiliation with doorbird, I was looking for a doorbell camera and found the product, then I came across this thread as I was looking for comparable alternatives. I joined this site today and provided a helpful answer as my first post. I included pricing and some reviews and technical info to help out, since the OP was looking to connect it up over ONVIF.

Your first posts back in August were asking for help, by the way, and of course you got helpful replies, not offensive name-calling. What have you contributed at all to this thread other than insults? Have you offered anything at all to answer the OP's request? Have you even considered that I'm trying to help out? No, you're just being an asshole.

Do you just take it upon yourself to now show up out of the blue to insult everyone who joins this forum to try to answer another member's question? It doesn't look like you were subjected to the type of trolling that you're dishing out today back when you first joined, so don't talk to me about being on a high horse.
