Trying to add Ptz cam SD5A425XA-HNR I got from Andy to my BI computer. Was using it on Lorex N881A6 NVR with 9 other cams. Still using my NVR but hooked this ptz through a 16 channel poe switch. Plan on putting all cams on switch and use BI and the nvr. Tested some of the other cams through the switch, accessed them through 198.168.xx address. Was able to add them no problem. When I try doing the same thing with the ptz cam, BI can't find it's ip address. On the lorex nvr it has a 10.1.1.xx address. Was told this cam has auto tracking and smd but have to activate through it's web GUI.

Thanks for any help

do you still have the cam configured to the 10.1.1.0/24 address? If thats not the same network range as your BI machine then you will need to change it to suit. If you have the cam on the same broadcast domain as your BI PC then you should be able to connect and reconfigure using the Dahua config tool.

Otherwise just do a factory reset and config your PC to be the same IP range as Dahuas default and go from there.

Also check that you have enough power availability on your PoE Switch to allow the camera to complete its boot sequence.

Thanks for the reply. Been sitting here for 30min thinking.. not very computer savvy. Really don't know how to do/check the things you're talking about (little A.D.D. to). Put all the cams though the switch and the NVR on the switch. IP address changed on all the cams from before when I tested them cause I had them wrote down. They're all new 192.168.x.x except for the ptz, staying on a 10.1.x.x.

I know I read somewhere in this form that you're supposed to give the cams a static address, probably why they changed and won't connect on BI either. Again don't understand how to do that.

Just trying to get the ptz on a 192 address so I can access it's settings. It's up on a tower 15 feet up. Opened up the back and had to push the rest button. That was a while ago, don't think it reset. Don't know if I can reset it though the NVR or not

ok didnt realise access was an issue to the PTZ.

IMO Simplest way to do this now.
On the PC/laptop that you will use for this, download and install Dahua Config tool.
Connect Cable from PTZ to PoE switch
Connect Cable from PoE switch to any device (PC/laptop with Dahua config tool installed on it)
Assuming its an unmanaged switch (just plug n play) you are now on the same broadcast domain (ignore IP addresses at this point as it doesnt matter)
Open the config tool and do a scan.
It should find your PTZ if its powered up fully. At this point its just a matter of configuring its IP address to match that which your BI PC is on. (Click edit next to the PTZ camera that the config tool finds and enter the relevant IP address you wish to use for it.) if you are unsure which IP address to use, come back with the IP address of your BI machine and we can suggest).
Once you have configured the IP address of the camera to match that of your BI machine, you can access the cameras web gui from the BI machine when attached to the same switch.

Hope that makes sense.

Wow. Sounds like something I can follow. Doing some resetting of a router and going out to eat. We'll try to get to this later in the day, let you know how it goes thanks for the advice

Does the POE switch have enough power? Is it a POE+ switch? How many of those ports are being used?

Confirm it isn't a power issue first or you will chase something you cannot find!

It is Poe+. I took all the cameras and put them through the switch first and then connected the NVR to the switch and you can see all the IP addresses is just that the PTZ is a 10.1.1 XXX, not 192.168.x.x address

Get the Dahua Toolbox and reset the camera start from fresh with the camera on the bench and powered with the supplied power supply. All the settings including Auto Tracking and smart plans etc must be set up via the camera''s Web GUI using IE ( Internet Explorer ) when all set up and working as it should be then try it in your NVR.

If you need any help setting it up let me know as I have this same camera also so could use Teamviewer to help if needed.
Downloaded dahua tool. Have all cameras going through the switched unplug the NVR. Coming up with 10 of the 9 IP addresses the only one not showing is the 10.1.x.x. Guess I have to climb the tower and do a hard reset? Side note I was able to get into some of the cameras and change the bit rates to 8192. Are we supposed to set that for the sub stream too. Right now it's set at 2048 for sub stream on my other PTZ.

Strange, im sure i've activated cams using that tool when my PC is on a different network range to the default 192.168.1.0/24 network. I just assumed it broadcast to 255.255.255.255. I'll have to check tomorrow. I've got another to activate so it will be a good excuse.

Anyway, no need to climb the tower yet. You could just make a temp change to the IP address of the PC you are running the config tool from to be in the same network range as the PTZ (10.1.1.0/24) - then your PC and PTZ will be on the same network. Use your config tool to edit the PTZ IP to the 192 network, then change the PC back to the 192 network again and you should be good.

Finally got some progress. had ConfigTool on a laptop. It lists the cams 10.1.x.x address. So it has a modify IP setting in it. The mode is static or DHCP. Should be static, right? Do i just copy the Subnet Mask and Gateway from one of the other cam settings? Never done this before, should I set the new IP to its original 192.168.1.xxx or come up with new last three digits?

You will want to assign the camera the last 3 digits something that nothing else is using or you will have an IP conflict.

Are you trying Explorer?

And you are simply keeping it on the 10.xx.xx.xxx range?

No, trying to set it to 192.168.x.x range. All the other cams are on the 192 range. Can get into all their web gui. This ptz I can't access. Forgot the password I gave it, but can't even get a log in on 10.x.x, so was trying to set it on the 192 so I could use configtool to reset it.
