Hi,

been looking on aliexpress,

http://m.aliexpress.com/item/1672618604.html

When I return my dodgy eBay cameras, was looking at possibly buying DS-2CD2632F-IS instead from above link.

its listed as English version, and link I followed to that listing says its firmware upgradable so presumebly world region.

is it likely to be legitimate or hacked version?

has anybody purchased from China security wholesale previously on there?

found another one from CCTV camera wholesale on Aliexpress also if anybody has had any dealings with them?

thnks

You can buy it foe the same price locally. See the milkisbad thread..
You can also choose the 2mp version which is cheaper and has better low light performance.

Here in the uk the price on the World Region cams is roughly £100 more than the China region ones. Roughly $149 more.

after this bad lot of eBay cameras I did enquire about genuine ones from a uk distributor and because it is around £100 more each, was looking at a minimum addition £500.

which is silly, so my options remain either eBay, Amazon... Or have been told to look on Aliexpress, so I found those 2, if legitimate and genuine world region... They are still £50 cheaper than what I paid.

is there a list of reputable sellers at all?

thanks

My experience...

I've purchased 16 cameras from AliExpress using a number of different vendors and all were good, except for a purchase of three (3) Hikvision units from "CSST wholesale market." Here is his store: http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/c2snBGAc

"CSST wholesale market" shipped me three (3) Hikvision DS-2CD2332-I 3MP units all of which arrived with badly hacked firmware (all of the cameras arrived with the same "endless reboot loop" issue). I had to pay someone here at ipcamtalk.com some money to downgrade all of the firmware and now the cameras all work fine. When I filed a dispute against "CSST wholesale market" he accused me of configuring the cameras incorrectly and was more than a bit rude. All-in-all "CSST wholesale market" was a bad deal and the guy got creepy about the issue. Other than this single bad experience all of my other AliExpress transactions have been A+++ (with the exception that delivery always takes a bit too long imo).

"CSST wholesale market"
Do you think the store that OP mentioned is the same? Similar names for sure but anything else that lets young players know that they may be dealing with same company?

Thanks.

While there are many on this forum who are fortunate to live in North America and have access to milkisbad's store, the majority of users live in countries that do not.

Users outside of North America by necessity have to use AliExpress and need to be able to trust other members with their experience of AE stores mentioned. Therefore experience of mentioned sellers would be very useful, anything else leads to wild goose chases. Cheers.

BTW

Looking at store mentioned, it doesn't look too bad to me. Kind of low sales volumes for time in operation but none of the feedback or store layout looks too dodgy. Sometimes we just have to roll the dice and see what happens. I lost a couple of good AE sellers when Hik forced them to shut down, so back to chancing it.

Hi,

Was looking at the China wholesale security last night. They have 100% feedback, 253 feedback, all seems positive.

Just don't want to get stung because I have to order 5 of them! Which is a lot of money, next concern Is how much import tax.

Buy the price, if genuine, on the world region cameras is good, it's cheaper than I paid for These ones on eBay.

Had a look at CSSTwholesale market.

It's a different seller by looks of things, different price, different photos and description, also looks to be a hacked China region version.

One I was looking at showed a colour printed box, said it was upgradable English firmware. So shouldn't have hacked firmware on it.

Just been reading some reasonably good feedback on China Security Wholesale.

I've bought a bit off Aliexpress in the past (mostly computer gear) and bought a couple of Hikvision cameras last week. The ones I bought were:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hikvision-camera-DS-2CD2132-I-Network-IP-camera-3MP-Mini-dome-Camera-w-3D-DNR-DWDR/1786704959.html - China Security Wholesale (Fiona who seems to be popular here)
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/OFF-Hikvision-DS-2CD2332-I-Network-IP-camera-3MP-dome-w-POE-3D-DNR-Full-HD1080p/1332116669.html - (2 of them, 1x 4mm and 1x 2.8mm) from Good Zhang

Both were ordered at the beginning of last week using 3-6 day DHL shipping to New Zealand. The 2132 arrived in NZ on Saturday and went through customs this morning, it's currently on a plane to the city I live in so I should get it in the next 48 hours (probably tomorrow).
The order from China Security Wholesale just arrived, 6 working days from placing the order to receiving the delivery and the box was well packaged with lots of bubble wrap.
Also says on their business page,

We are agent of Hikvision, offer original products of Hikvision and technical support.
They sell quite a few china region brown box versions with hacked English firmware running 5.3... but say they cannot be updated, then link to what they advertise as English version which they say is upgradable and appears to show colour boxes... is it likely these are also hacked? or genuine?

Do you think they can be trusted?

Is it worth paying a little extra and upgrading to these instead?

2CD2642FWD-IS

Those have replaced the 2632

Thanks, will purchase from them then, may go for the 4mp version also for £20 extra each camera.

Next question lol but what can I expect in regards to import duties and taxes?

Thanks

Thanks, just trying to factor my options.

I have world region colour branded box stock on DS-2CD2632F-IS

Which is £50 cheaper than what I paid on eBay for items I'm returning as faulty.

Then have, DS-2CD2642FWD-I for £100 more than what I paid on eBay or the IS version for £140 more for again world region full colour box

Just trying to find out how much import duty I'm likely to have to pay.

If full amount is declared looks to be around, £160.

Which would mean needing to go for the obsolete DS-2CD2632F-IS to cover the extra cost of the tax.

But if import tax is likely to only be a small amount due to lower declared value on customs form then I can go for the newer replacement DS-2CD2642FWD-I(S) models.

You can also choose the 2mp version which is cheaper and has better low light performance.
So are you saying that the rule of thumb is that cameras with higher pixel ratings have poor low light performance? The 3MP Hikvision will be worse than the 2MP, and the 4MP will be worse than the 3MP. Is this low light performance enough to offset the higher daytime resolution gained through the the 3 and 4MP cameras?

I guess one compromise might be to use the high res cameras with additional IR lighting.

Its a rule of thumb if the camera uses the same size sensor. The 4mp hikvision is an exception in that its a bit better than the 3mp hikvision.
Also note that the 3mp hikvision does not give you any more clarity than the 2mp. The extra resolution goes to a larger vertical field of view...if you dont need the extra fov, then it doesnt help..in fact many of us run the 3mp camera in 2mp mode to get a slightly wider horizontal fov it provides (this is specific to hikvision)..
The best solution is to provide better lighting in general...if you have outdoor light use them...put them on a dusk to dawn timer.

There is only one rule of thumb with Hikvision. Pay more to get better night time quality. They are just using cheapo sensors in all those budget cams. I have 5MP no name cam that outperforms any Hikvision day and especially night.
