Considering he is from California, he better have an attorney on speed dial. Chasing after the criminals once the threat is over isn't the smartest move.
Get your butt behind closed doors and call law enforcement, he has zero idea how many other criminals could have been around the corner.

Also shooting when he has no idea what/who is behind the criminal? Dumb. He's VERY lucky he didn't hit an innocent by-stander.
