^yes backlight would help.

My suggestion is to try each one and use it as low as you can go. For example WDR at 50 may look great with a static image but will be blur with motion.

Make sure to test each one with motion.

Its a matter of not having a choice if you want to see faces in a backlit scene.

Try WDR at 10-20 and adjust, the least the better. Another option is SSA backlight (Not AI SSA)

Both can cause some blur if you arent running a fast enough shutter. For daytime I run 0-2 outside, I'd try at least 0-4

No backlight

On that camera SSA

Neither will be good at night as you’ll brighten the scene but create too much blur
I needed to use WDR 25%, SSA made the image even darker. Unfortunately, you can see that the sharpness of faces decreases due to WDR. Unfortunately, I haven't found a better solution in this situation yet.

Wonder if a Motion Sensor Light would help during the day. If the Motion did not work have a Timer Light...

Guess you could do like the License Plate Readers and shoot a Flash of Light in their face, lol

hmmm that doesn’t sound right. Maybe try a fixed shutter 1/120 for starts

Does your camera have Backlight SSA?

I set the fixed shutter to 1/120, but SSA still made the image of the inside door darker than without SSA. I just adjusted the lighting spotlights so that they shine on your face when you enter the store, hopefully that helps.

Do you have the AI codec or AI SSA or something else turned on also?

So this is the NVR I bought, and was wondering if the HDMI port on the back is 4k capable?

I would hope so as I bought 4k cameras and hope to stream 4k quality to my monitor/tv.
My tv is showing the resolution of this NVR in 4k for anyone else who was wondering.

I am using 4k cables as well, so make sure you are too.

Do I need to plug in the yellow & white audio cables to get sound, or is sound also recorded through the Cat6?

Do these turrets have the ability to record sound, but do not have a speaker for me to 2 way talk do they?
